If I don't use a specific brand of shampoo every day it kills my scalp more so than my hair. I hate the greasy feeling but my scalp feels awful.

If I don't shampoo my hair, it turns into a fluffy fuzz ball of ultimate destruction.

i wash my hair with sodium bicarbonate and water (200 cc of water and 1 oz sodium bicabonate)
mix water and SB on a bottle, shake it hard and use that instead of shampoo, ur hair will look so shiny and very clean for days
EDIT: forgot to say i have short hair. if u have long hair u should use 3oz of sodium bicarbonate

Man, this would be interesting to do to see if it'd help. Still, can't see myself doing it due to dealing with the absurd oiliness of my hair for a month.
Some of the other methods posted seem pretty interesting though. Might be worth a shot.

My hair tends to look best when I go a day or so without washing it. I don't think I could go longer than that though, I have very thick hair and it manages to become insanely greasy in short amounts of time. I have wanted to try the no shampoo thing for a while though.

I have long, thick hair. I don't wash it every day or it turns into a mess, but I'd struggle more with not conditioning it. If I don't use conditioner, I can't get a brush through it and it snarls.

I shampoo one day, then skip using shampoo on the next day. I use conditioner every day though.

While I've yet to not wash my hair for periods longer than 3-4 days, I find that skipping the shampoo and using unrefined/cold-pressed organic coconut oil as a deep conditioner works wonders!

I will rinse my hair each night, but usually only shampoo it like once or twice a week and my scalp is great!

I shower every day, but only wash my hair twice a week. It doesn't get greasy very easily, and if I wash it every day it gets super dry and crackly.

I've never tried coconut oil as a conditioner. It might be worth a shot.

There are different ways of doing it. You can do "no-poo" or "low-poo", the first one eradicates the use of shampoo, using only hair conditioner petroleum free and the second one says that you can use some shampoo, but light ones, that won't attack your oils, doing less foam. For example: you can't use Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
Some people use sodium bicarbonate as shampoo and apple vinegar as conditioner, but I can't say if this works.

That seems like it would be harder on your hair than regular shampoo

Hm, I have to disagree with that.

Hm, I have to disagree with that.
- No-poo means you don't use any hair product that's store bought. No shampoo, no conditioner, no wax, gel, etc.
- Low-poo means you use natural products that can be store bought. By natural meaning that all the ingredients are from natural sources (coconut oil, aloe, etc.) and not any SLS, SLD DST OCD crap (gotta love acronyms lol). Some people call low-poo using less shampoo, washing their hair only 1 or 2 a week, but that's wrong. BS is included in this group because it actually strips the natural oils from your hair (surprise! acting like a regular shampoo in a way) which is why some people have big issues with it.
- Using only conditioner is called co-wash.
I forgot to say about the "co-wash" part, I'm sorry.
Yep, I told you can use some shampoo, but not derivated from petroleum. I'm not saying you will wash your hair 2x/week. You can wash your hair, but with natural products.
Why is it more indicated to people with curly hair?

I used to wash it every day but then I heard that was bad so I brought it down to every other day. The most I can go is three days and at that point it's really dry and greasy.
I have to say though, the only appealing part about not using shampoo for me has to be not worrying about washing it. I love to spoil myself with rather pricey hair products like masks, conditioners, oils, serums, etc. ![]()
My hair/scalp needs shampoo. I constantly get dandruff. Also, my type of hair can't just be washed with water, otherwise it gets frizzy and nappy.
My hair is the exact same way. If I don't use my head and shoulders, it gets really dandruffy. And if I don't use some kind of oily conditioner, it gets super dry and tangled.

Basically. My hair is like my child.
