They are, but if your teams gets first place it'll say "1st place" under it, so you still have bragging rights and you still have a 1st place trophy on your UL. Only the color of the trophy is influenced by individual effort.

Thissssssss. I look at so many accounts that are supposedly legit and there is just noooo way. 
At least we don't go around hacking accounts and stuff, and I'm sure most of them have done that or tried to scam someone.

Woo! Thanks for the instructions on how to find out which team to pick! Last time I participated I picked Mystery Island, because I "live there", and that did not go well. I think I have finally matured enough to pick a team "because they're good" rather than "they're my home team". I'm still not sure how the "team strengths" are picked (on DailyNeo), but perhaps they're a reflection of how well you all played last year?

I'm not sure I would attribute picking a different team on a virtual pet site to "maturity." There are people who firmly stick to the same teams year after year with their mains (even if they still AB for Codex on their sides), because, well, personal taste. In the end it truly doesn't make that much of a difference lol.
