Is the Simpsons actually ban worthy? Something like South Park I could understand ..
My dad was really in to the Simpsons and used to record the episodes weekly. We had a bunch of tapes and I watched them when I was real little, but I don't remember much from them, only like .. Homer and Bart being lost in the woods and one where Homer almost committed suicide?
Why'd she banned it? I mean I got banned plenty of things but Simpsons was never one of them.
Yeah I don't know, I guess she didn't like the message that they sent? Which is odd cause she let me watch shows like Futurama and King of the Hill.

Fukushima affects (and mercury while pregnant) on shellfish I guess.
I love hot pockets too! They are actually easy to make so I just do a huge batch whenever I remember how great they are and freeze them.
Ah ok. I did read about people getting seriously sick for eating canned tuna which was cheap and from an unspecified country of origin so it was assumed to be from there.

Oh no I'm so sorry.
I grew up on a farm myself and was taught at a very young age to not get attached to the animals. Didn't make it hurt any less, let me tell you.

That is so weird. The Simpsons was/is rather tame compared to King of the Hill.

King of the Hill struck me as far worse. If my mom is any indication, she probably read an article or heard something on the news about the Simpsons.

It's incredible sad.
The most agonizing moment I have memory of is when I was about 9 or 10 and my grandpa killed a pig. Those screech... I can still hear them. I ran into the house and hid under my bed crying like a baby.
If it helps any, pigs will scream for literally any reason. And they ALWAYS sound like they are being murdered. Pick up a pig to move it to another pen? Deafening scream. Clipping down their hooves (which I might add, is painless and they can't even feel it), screaming for days, etc.

I should probably be grateful that my parents get meat from supermarkets.

Me neither but my coworker was reading CNN the other day and it was a news article there. Growing up The Simpsons was banned in my household by my mom and we'd actually get in trouble if we watched it. And then when I finally got old enough to watch it, it didn't interest me anymore.
thats funny my mom banned simpsons when we were young. She was doing dishes and my little brother waddles behind her and yelled "Cowabunga Dude!" and smacked her with a pingpong paddle.
On reflection, I don't dissagree with her on that one, but she also tried banning pokemon because her friends told her it was Evil. ![]()

Traumatizing on so many levels.

Same, never had to experience any of that stuff, unlike them. They used to get live animals from the store, have them as pets for a day or two and then end up eating them. At least they didn't have to kill them but it's still super sad.

Eh. If you've lived it, it's not THAT bad. But I could understand why people with weaker stomachs would find it upsetting.

My mom banned neopets (unwittingly) at one point but I don't disagree with her, I played way too much at that time. Also she just read articles about people in south korea dying from exhaustion because they spent all their time playing online games. In that sense, I'm kind of glad I got frozen because now

well except for the new steam sale

I'm glad my household wasn't the only one it was banned in although "Cowabunga Dude" is totally a Ninja Turtle thing so I don't see how the two instances would be related.
I could totally see Pokemon being banned if it was like Pokemon Origin, but the regular one was just about going on adventures with friends.

And if not Origins then definitely the Adventures manga. Pokémon would actually shed blood and get seriously injured in it. An Arbok in one volume even got slashed in half.

I went for a drunken adventure, ended up with pizza and a glass bottle full of fireflies that I somehow lost on my walk.
Keeping with the conversation, my dad made meatloaf one night, and when I was done told me it was Bambis mom.. trying to get me to guess what kind of meat I was eating. It was delicious but traumatizing for a 8 year old. He also has a picture of a gutted deer on his fridge, which when we ate at the table, was right there infront of my brothers and I.

Super religious families ban Pokemon because it teaches evolution. >_>

...not trying to offend here, but what in the flying blue hell is wrong with your father?
The teasing, sure, that's normal dad stuff. But leaving a gorey image up and making your children eat in front of it? Just wat.
