One of my college friends has been in the Neopets fandom since she was in high school. There’s lots of rumors going around but here’s what seems to be the most accepted version of events:

1) Apprently the Neopets website is under new management after a shakeup at the parent company.

2) Sometime in the last 24 hours the new bosses decided to cut costs by firing all the mods and installing new chat filtering software.

3) They actually thought this would work.

4) It took people like five seconds to find ways around the filters. Now it’s utter lawlessness and Neopets is living in Mad Max times.

5) This also extends to the names you can give your pets. Choose your starter Pokemon:

ugh i just hit all star -.-

ugh i just hit all star -.-

'Grats! I hope Neo comes back on before bed time or I won't be able to score send 'til morning and that'll be a waste.

[Bones]

who knows we might lose the boards totally which would be a shame.

[Ka1]

ugh i just hit all star -.-

Grats

At least you got it before it went down

what a waste if you miss it because of this

Was shocked when i saw ss had errors...phew

Probably fixing the filters

since it is not only the boards

but also the lookup, pet pages and gallery/shop

[Bee]

Er, okay.

[Xwiint]

Some people take Neopets way too seriously. I mean, my fiance looked at me askance when he found out I still played...and mostly enjoyed it. However...I do not enjoy it enough to start a class action lawsuit.

[NapisaurusRex]

Er, okay.

"Given out lousy prizes for the Altador Cup" Best reason to sue ever.

[bobholly]

its back up!

[Bones]

but no boards still and userlookies are gone again

[NapisaurusRex]

oh I'm not iced yet.

[KaibaSama]

oh I'm not iced yet.

Neither am I. Not even a warning.

[Katya]

Same here.
Honestly, this brings up the same problem they had with dupes. If they decide to ice every account that broke the rules, the site ends up empty

[Swar]

Still alive, as expected.

[Katya]

I bet they'll distribute some warnings, silencing some accounts or even ice a few, but nothing more.
And I'm having mixed feelings about the return of the boards. I want them to NOT bring it back, because that would cut some crap that happens there (people would go to other sites, possibly making us have more members as well? ) but then, what are we going to do when we want to cause a neomass hysteria?

[Swar]

At least this happened at the end if the AC, so we had a lot of time to cause drama

[Katya]

Ahahah YEEES!
We caused drama and were still able to win the cup. It's all good in neopia

[Bones]

I will be looking forward to seeing a RS n Chat board on NC in the near future then

[KaibaSama]

I believe that would be called "AB n Chat".
