"Flower's base symbolizes the beginning of a new day with many dreams inside of it that only glows from within the sculpture. It is those talents hidden from sight scared to be shown to others. The beeds are the treasures where it represents the beauty which is inside of us. The curly stems are the path of hardship to reach a certain goal and to reach for the top."

For under $20 I decided to try and see if I had a green thumb. I was going to make a terrarium, but the internet told me cactus don't thrive in not so open containers so I decided on a pot instead. Plants came from Home Depot, potting mix and 9 inch high pot came from Lowes, and rocks came from outside my home.

I make headbands out of felt and lace, I use no-sew fabric glue as well as hand stitch parts.

"Adventure Time Inspired Galaxy Bottles

You need:
-bottle
-cotton 
-glitter
-wooden dowel
-water
-cork
-acrylic paint/watercolor/the paint you want
-black nail polish (for the faces)

How to:

Pour water in the bottle, adding the first color and glitter. Mix it with the wooden dowel. Start adding the cotton, add more water, glitter, the second color, cotton and keep doing it until the bottle is finished. Close with a cork.

I drew the faces with nail polish, free hand, but I think you can try to draw with a watercolor pencil first."

While I didn't craft the mini I painted all of her. When she arrived she was clear plastic. I did use sculpting putty and tools to add detail (patches on her hat and spear tip). And I hand crafted the flag as well. Her flag consisted of days of trial and error to find a solution to keep the paper waving while protecting it enough for use in tabletop gaming, as well as what materials I could paint on the paper with without getting the graphic to bleed. I tried to give it the texture of cloth. The finishing touch was adding the ground texture and bushes.

This is my own laser cut, sanded, painted, and shellac-ed letter 'K'! I used some leftover baltic birch wood and the laser cutting machine in my University's engineering campus to get the raw letter. I then sanded using finer and finer grit sandpaper until the finish was ready to be painted. I first painted the front multiple coats of white acrylic and then taped it off to paint the rest black. Then I freehanded the flowers, leaves, and cherries with various acrylics and paint pens. The print I used was inspired by a Lilly Pulitzer design.

My favorite entries would have to be:

#1 origami or whatever paper magic that is, is not easy and I'm super impressed.

#4 it's 3 dimensional? It just looks cool, would like to have a description of how it was made and what materials, but I really like it.

#7 it's really neat, I think that would be a fun project for kids. I might have to do something like this with my neices.

#9 It's a K, my name starts with a K, it's beautiful. I did something similar for my mother (had a piece of wood cut into a K and turned it into a clock.) The painting is very impressive.

 

All in all great entries, and I still don't know which one to vote for.

i really like the adventure time inspired bottles! i never expected/thought of that. very creative!

i think some of the entries need before and after or progress pictures for me to fully appreciate it. but they're all very nice tho. good job everyone!

I really wanted to participate for this but I was unexpectedly busy and then burned out from the business to attempt a proper craft and I didn't want to half-a it.
