I know there's probably a topic about this somewhere but I'm lazy af right now and from a quick search I couldn't find anything.

So here's my story.

I have AT&T and have been with them since the dawn of time (or when I was 15 and got my first ever cell phone), so like 13 years ago.. god I'm old.

I've always been on a family plan(regardless of me moving 3000 away from said family), and I pay whatever my monthly portion is when it's due. It comes out to roughly be $65-70 for my part. The plan is currently unlimited everything and a shared 10gb data between 5 lines. Currently me and my brother take up about 8gb each month and are constantly having to pay the extra overage charges.

Well my Mother is now thinking about changing service providers because she's not liking AT&T. So that leaves me with moving to my own plan on AT&T or switching providers completely. I love AT&T and have no issues minus some spotty coverage areas but it's not horrible.

Here's what I'm looking for

Data: 5-6gb per month

Texts: I average between 1000-2000 a month I mostly use apps

Talk: I hardly talk on the phone so under 100minutes incoming/outgoing easily

What I want to know from you:

Provider?

Coverage? are you happy with it (I know it varies state to state)

Cost: Monthly per person (if you are on family plan how many lines)

Data/Text/Talk: Are you unlimited/limited to how much?

Customer Satisfaction? Would you recommend to other people

    Provider : Verizon

Coverage? I fucking love it! The only place I lose reception is like 100 feet under ground. (Don't ask me why I was down so far)

Cost: For 3 phones we pay ~$208 w/ my 15% off one line military discount.

    Data/Text/Talk: Data = 6GB, Text = Unlimited. Talk = Unlimited

Customer Satisfaction? I would recommend Verizon over any other carrier. Unless of course you want to deal with spotty coverage, and lackluster customer support for a cheaper price.

EDIT: I've had T-Mobile, and Sprint in the past -- I wasn't satisfied with either.

I have verizon I love it. Except they just upped my bill! Still grandfathered into the unlimited data! 4g on deck! stream stream stream! I use probably about 20gigs and they can't do shit!

    Provider? Verizon

Coverage? The only time I had shitty coverage was out in the middle of BFE Oklahoma on my drive to MO.

    Cost: $78

    Data/Text/Talk: Unlimited / Unlimited / 400 Mins (I don't use them anymore)

Customer Satisfaction? Not many people are on the plan I have anymore. I would just for the great coverage and their plans are decent just make sure you don't go over or they'll get you hard on the bills.

Cost: $30 for just me. *woot woot*

    Data/Text/Talk: Data-Unlimited Talk-Unlimited Text-Unlimited

Customer Satisfaction? Tmobile is perfect. Customer service is awesome.

If you are leaving for your own plan you can get unlimited everything. It's not that expensive to get for one line.

I'm not too worried about money since I know I'll end up paying around the same I am now. I'm just looking to hear options/opinions on what other people have/use.

that's the main reason my mom wants to switch, if I were on my own plan I would have no problem staying within whatever amount of GB I go with. Just sharing with 5 people (one of which is a landscaper and has zero wifi most of the day doesn't help) is difficult to maintain.

    Provider? Verizon

Coverage? are you happy with it (I know it varies state to state) Can't complain.  Then again I've only lived in one place with it, and the coverage is good.

Cost: Monthly per person (if you are on family plan how many lines) We've now got 4 people on our plan, and it costs a little over $200 a month.

Data/Text/Talk: Are you unlimited/limited to how much? Talk and Text is unlimited, there's a cap on 10 GB of data a month.  We used to get unlimited data with a cap of 500 minutes and 50 texts (the price was lower too), but then my dad wanted to switch it around because he talks on the phone too much. :(

Customer Satisfaction? Would you recommend to other people Yes.

Tmo has a 10 GB plan per line right now.

First 2 are 50 each and every line after that is 40. (I think the 4th line is 30)

170 for 10 GB per line for 4 lines isn't bad either.

Just to share, even though it's not what you're looking for:

    Provider: Sprint

    Coverage: Spotty

    Data: 1 gig

    Text/Talk: Unlimited

    Customer Service: Good

    Price: $45

I'm just looking for myself. My mother can do the rest on her own, I think the only one who would stay on her plan is: Mom, step-dad, and brother.

Thank you for the info though, I'll let her know about that.

Not going to help you, but I figured I'd share anyway.

    Provider? AT&T

Coverage? I am satisfied although I know Verizon users get better coverage here.

    Cost: $150 for 2 lines.

    Data/Text/Talk: 10 GB/Unlimited/500 Minutes (estimated the minutes)

Customer Satisfaction? I am happy, although I believe I will switch to Verizon when my cycle is up even though I have been with AT&T for 12 years. It seems Verizon's comparable plans are so much more expensive though.

    I'm on my dad's plan.

    Provider? Verizon.

Coverage? are you happy with it (I know it varies state to state) Not sure.

Cost: Monthly per person (if you are on family plan how many lines) I know the whole bill is like $240 a month, but I don't know what mine is individually.

Data/Text/Talk: Are you unlimited/limited to how much? Unlimited talk/text and 10gb of data, which we also go over all the time.

Customer Satisfaction? Would you recommend to other people. Merrrrr.

Thank you all for you input so far! From the sounds of it I may go talk to Verizon this weekend.

I'm on the ATT Next plan which means I didn't pay for my phone up front, but instead pay a small monthly fee, and I just got it last month.

My parents did the same thing to me... They went with Republic Wireless and I went with Straight Talk.

What I want to know from you:

    Provider? Straight Talk

Coverage? are you happy with it (I know it varies state to state) It's through Sprint, so decent

Cost: Monthly per person (if you are on family plan how many lines) 1 with taxes $50.38

Data/Text/Talk: Are you unlimited/limited to how much? 1 line, unlimited talk/text, 5G of high speed data, unlimited low speed data,

Customer Satisfaction? Would you recommend to other people... I love it. Only time I've ever talked to customer service is when I was switching my number to my own phone..

Only thing I'd say is that with this company, they don't subsidize your phone, or incorporate it into your monthly bill, so you have to buy the phone outright, or bring your own phone.
