Am I the only one that thinks the drop rate is awful this year? New familiars though, yay.

The drop rate was awful last year too, if I remember right. Ugh. The one festival a ton of people hate, I included.

If I recall correctly, I had to open around 600 chests after the first two days last year. This year, after 4000 battles in the Arena, I've only got 64 chests and most were the bear familiars I already have, not an egg nor a scroll.

Hopefully that's not everyone. Hopefully they didn't mess with the drop rates, as they were still pretty bad last year.

Aw dang. And after all the complaints last year, you think they would have fixed things instead of making things worse! Ugh. 

 

I actually just found this from one of the FR mods.

 

The chests are dropping at a lesser rate than last year, but they drop at a greater rate than the rate at which familiars/eggs/scrolls were found in chests last year. (and guarantee a familiar or better as payout!) So less chests, but ultimately it works out to a more favorable chance at familiars/eggs/scrolls. Which is good, because there's much more to collect this year!

We did lose the "I have three hundred chests to open!" feeling, but the server is much happier for it. Plus I think after chest 500, opening chests that are almost always a food or trinket item gets old...

It boggles my mind how a bad drop rate from last year was made even worse this year! Hopefully if enough people complain, staff will adjust it.

I think I'd have preferred having to open loads of chests, tbh. To be fair though, not everyone has access to a chest opener lol. It's just there's so much stuff that could drop and knowing my luck with RNGs, I'll just get bears all festival long.

The chest rates are super low, but I mean they have a higher chance of "nicer" things

I decided to mess around and discovered you can open an entire stack of chests at a time. Only problem is that it doesn't show what you get (if anything) so I'll let somebody with more dedication figure out if you do get stuff or not.

Wondering, will the script for opening mass chests at a time that you provided us with last year, still work this year? Haven't tried it yet.

There's a new update now, you can trade NoTN trinkets for Chests to Swipp:

 

 

New apparel set at treasure marketplace:

 

And new Baldwin's recipe for 2 Chest at Level 3, the recipe for 1 chest was changed to Level 2.

Arena pretty much. Seems to have the highest rate of the enemies that drop the chests, so I grind there.

I managed to get at least 1 of each new familiar though.

For some reason I'm getting more chest drops in lower-level areas.  I'm going to stick to those areas to farm chests, and use some of the dropped items to exchange with Swipp for chests.

5.42% had an egg

0.35% had a scroll

17.3% had a festival bear

22.03% had a fake bear

37.94% had a NotN-specific familiar

16.96% had an apparel item

I've been having great luck at Harpy's. Heard it had the highest drop rate for chests as well. Arena didn't actually give me much in comparison..
