Read the spoiler in the end of the OP. That contest is probably what hint 1 is talking about:
1. I have exactly two active. Find the one with the fewer.
The Writing Contest is the least active contest, I think? Anyway, it's where I got the "bloodhound is human".

Well, it also has fewer posts, which is what I was wondering but I hadn't noticed the spoiler at the bottom. Okay. So, the bloodhound is human.
