My mom was under the impression that she was going to have a boy. She was ready to name me, "Samuel". On a side note, when she asked me what I wanted to name my younger brother, I answered "Scooby Doo."

I was almost named Alice because my parents KNEW I was going to be a girl.

But I wasn't born a girl. So they named me Zac. lol

My mum decided to change my name because some random feng shui guy convinced her, and through the process of deciding a name I was almost named after an instrument, but luckily I said no

My parents were going to name me Richard if I turned out to be a boy.

Glad they didn't, too many of my uncles are named that.

When my parents were discussing baby names before gender was known, my father suggested naming a girl after the woman he cheated on my mom with. I'm sure everyone can use their imaginations to figure out how that worked out for him.

I don't know what my mum wanted to name me,
But when she was pregnant with my little sister she had a feeling it was going to be a boy so she was obsessed with the name 'Adrian'. Then she found out she was a girl and thought about 'Adriana' but didn't like the meaning of the name so now I have a little 8 year old sister named Diana :D (pronounced dee-ana)

I wish I knew but I'm the first born twin so they always knew what they would call me so there's nothing super interesting there :( I love hearing other people's stories though!

I was nearly called Lily. I think she's mentioned a couple times that Jessica was a contender, as well. I wish I was called Lily, it's such a pretty name!

My mum wanted to name me Ethel because it was the name of her childhood doll, and dad wanted to name me Gladys after his great grandmother. I am not even joking. I can not even imagine older and more ancient sounding names, but thank goodness my grandma stepped in and knew how much I would be teased and made them give me a more modern-sounding name  (Carly!). Whew

Carly is much more modern :) How ironic that your grandmother stepped in but it was for the best

I was going to be named Cari after my great grandma, but alas my sister got it a few years later.
