You just might have loved her in Gilmore Girls.

I've never watched that either

    But it has... Melissa McCarthy!*shudders*

I'll give it a try this weekend :p

You should also check out some of her SNL clips. Judy Grimes is one of my favorites. :p

Kristen Wiig is great, and Kate McKinnon is my favorite woman on SNL (followed closely by Cecily Strong). I can do without Melissa and Leslie.

Cecily Strong>Kate McKinnon (I do agree with the following closely part though).

Nah, I'm just a fan of the original and want to see how it does instead of judging it by a couple minute clip that even one of the actors said didn't portray the movie well.

Yeah, they're both great. Cecily was my favorite for a while until this skit, now I think Kate is just a little more talented. They're both fantastic, though.

I'm not going to watch it just because I can't picture liking any as much as the original but it sounds like a funny cast and I don't think anyone has bad taste just because my own taste is different. You do you boo boo.

Eh. It looks okay. I liked the original but I only ever saw it as a kid and I don't have nostalgic memories that are distorted. Except about Milo and Otis. Which I watched as an adult and that movie was so dumb. And then my nostalgia was blown to bits from sadness.

Anyways, I'm not a fan of black stereotypical characters. So that's kind of off-putting. And I don't like Melissa McCarthy in anything I've seen her in. Be that as it may, I will watch it.

And I think people dislike it for two primary reasons:

    1. People like hating remakes just for the sake of hating remakes.

    2. People ragehate the idea of doing either all black/female casts because that's sexist or racist (but they can't see the irony, given most originals whitewashed and only cast women as sexualized objects and plot devices).

To be fair, the American version of Death at a Funeral is terrible.

Beats casting a woman as a walking stereotype. The actresses are funny ladies. The writing (based on the trailers) is based on cliches. It lessens them.

I don't necessarily disagree. But I think it's a little too soon to tell. The trailer only gives us a limited view. But I can appreciate a distaste for tropes and stereotypes. I just think the people ragehating the movie need to do better about communicating that's what they have a problem with. You made it clear that's what you took issue with. Great. I don't disagree with that thought. But if you go to any number of news sources about it, you'll see in the comments, mostly people bitching "how dare they ruin an original with an all woman cast! that's sexist!" ad nauseam.

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer the question. I voted other, because I wouldn't ever pay to watch this movie, nor would I make the effort to download it (it just doesn't interest me at all, and that has no relation to the female-only cast; maybe partly, because there's Melissa), but if like my dad or a friend come up to me and invite me to watch it (as they have the movie already), sure, why not.

i'm not that big of a fan of the original ghostbusters, but for this one, i think the trailer looks pretty slick! i'm cool with the all-female cast because they consist of kristen and melissa whom i totally adore. hopefully bill murray or someone from the original cast will make a cameo in the movie to appease the fans. the jokes seen in the trailer are kinda ok too. they didn't make me rofl or anything but i did enjoy them... all in all, if this is the last movie in the world, i'll totally watch it.

also i've helped the cause by disliking the video.

The cast's average age *looks* as though it is mid 40's, and the main ensemble seems to be lacking in comedic variety. I get melissa, but we don't need more than one of her. I also think the ghosts seem a little corny, but i don't know anything about ghostbusters, so perhaps it is intentional. I am all for mixing up gender roles, but i also like balance. If i first saw this on youtube (rather than here), I wouldn't feel inclined to like or dislike it (probably because i have no expectations for it to begin with). Eh, whatever, i am not going to see the film anyways lol.

I like how you can't criticise an incredibly sexist film without being called a sexist.

Hiring four women for an all woman cast is inherently sexist anyway.

But let's be honest, with a caliber of these four women, I'm surprised it's not straight to DVD/Blu-Ray.
