Hey guys, been a little bit since I posted anything in here but recently I purchased myself a drone mainly to document our upcoming new house build from start to finish. I thought, seeing as though we were going to be heading away from time to time on holidays too, why not get a half decent one to also take some shots whilst away.
I opted for the newer DJI Mini 3 Pro, a lightweight, entry level drone capable of 4K60fps video as well as 48MP still shots in both JPEG and RAW formats. The video can also be shot in either Auto mode or D-Cinelike mode (which allows for a lot more leg room with editing and colour grading etc).
I have been so amazed by the quality of this tiny little package. The sheer amount of functionality it has to get some truly epic clips and photos is stunning.
I'll use this thread to post my content that I create from time to time. Feel free to chuck me a follow on YouTube if you wish, I'll be uploading content a lot more regularly now that I have found a true passion for cinematic clips. If you have any pointers or feedback, please don't hesitate to hit me up here with your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated!
These are best viewed full screen, via YouTube or on a 4K capable TV/Display to get the true value out of the clips.
This one was the first sequence I put together using Adobe Premiere Pro. I really enjoyed how it turned out and it showcases my local area really well. I wasn't overly happy with the attempt at colour grading that I did, but I am slowly learning along the way.
This clip I decided to head into the hills a bit more for some forest shoots and more 'nature' themed clips. I also added in some ambient background tracks to complement the flowing waters of the creek and birdlife within the forest.
This next one, I ventured out to the local wine region nearby where I live to take some shots at the amazing bit of architecture known as The D'Arenberg Cube. Located in the McLaren Vale wine region, it's a world renowned vineyard who produces some of the finest wines on offer around the world. The building really caught my eye one day travelling through here, so I decided to head back with the drone and put this sequence together.
And last, but not least, the latest couple of videos that I added to the collection of my local beach and surrounding areas. The last clip in particular is one of my new favourites.
It was while shooting that last video footage, that this happened.....

May have picked a fight with a powerline that the drone failed to 'avoid' with it's so called obstacle avoidance sensors. I was shooting an automatic sequence using the drones inbuilt 'master shots' function, not realising that the flight path trajectory put it right in the way of the powerlines. I was shattered and so was the drone....
Fast forward FOUR days later, after being in contact with DJI directly, sending in the drone to them interstate for repair, they decided to send me a BRAND NEW drone at no charge I was gobsmacked. Their level of customer service is astounding and they really love to be able to look after their customers. So safe to say, I was stoked with that outcome and now am back in the skies filming more content every day I can
Thanks for taking the time to check out my clips, I will also post some photos taken by the drone at a later date. Cheers!
That is super cool, I should upload some of my drone footage. I have a DJI Mavic 2 Pro - used it a bunch to get property footage, lol. It is a fun thing!
Those are sick videos! Drones look so fun but I feel like I'd wreck it.
I've wrecked mine once already, but got a replacement within two days from DJI at little out of pocket cost, so YAY! It's a tonne of fun once you get used to most of the controls etc. Most of the hard work is taken out of it due to GPS positioning and stabilisation etc The automatic 'master shots' and 'quick shots' are cool AF. This one also has an auto follow or 'spotlight' function where you can select a subject on screen and the drone will follow wherever it goes, with decent obstacle avoidance

Oh man, I wanted to buy a Mavic 3 Pro so bad when it was released, but I could not justify the $3K+ price tag, so ended up with the Mini 3 Pro instead
Awesome shots, Strat!
Thanks!
Here's an example of the Active Track mode with me driving my car, controller on the passenger seat totally hands free and me freaking out the whole time that it was going to hit something xD
Took the drone out for another shoot at the local lookout/beach. The scenery here is amazing and as it was such a calm morning, I thought, why not get some flight time in and showcase my local area? Enjoy!
Here's some new still I recently shot around the local areas again

And some more.....

and this one turned out better than I had imagined with a play around using the tilt shift blur effect (creates a bit of a 'toy town' vibe)

Let me know what you think!

Here's a new clip I put together the other day while we were at the beach
