Has anyone seen the movie yet, it is so funny, even with the american actors, this is a pure British film full of funny quotes and supreme acting, one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, and it's only a PG. Posted Image
My favourite character has to be Marvin.

"I am so depressed".

And Stephen Fry is the narrator ^_^ . So anyones views on the movie/book etc..

My brother said that it was horrible, but he thinks that everything that doesn't have "neko-girls" (whatever that is) in it is horrible :bag:

I loved it, it could only be a british film, if you had heard the original radio series, or read the books based on the series you would see how classically british the humor is - they obviously had to change a few things for the big screen, but all in all a great film

I've always loved marvin, "life, loath it or ignore it, you can't like it"

I didn't think you would like it Lee ^_^ I've just got back from seeing it, and it really is brilliant.
I'm so glad that they didn't change the book too much.. besides Ford, and that awful American woman :p I think Zaphod was pretty sexy.. they should have had Bill Bailey for the second head.. but having BB as a sperm whale was good enough for me :p

Well... I LOVED Marvin. That was just a classic character really.

Buttttt... (and by the way I haven't read the book so I'm basing everything I say from this point on, from what I saw in the movie) what a CRAP film. Omg... I was sitting there with this massive tub of popcorn, yawning, and glancing at my whatch every five seconds. I can't pinpoint what I didn't like about it, but I think it was a mixture of just general... oh gosh.. I don't know.. just.. sillyness? and I don't think it worked for me. Sillyness is good: but this film sucked. I didn't like the actors, or the storyline, and I don't understand what was so great about it- apart from Marvin. Oh god! A depressed robot... CLASSIC!  :D Marvin was the only thing that kept me in the cinema.

It's just a British thing, I mean...aww it's hard to explain. I know what you mean Analogue, sometimes I was like what the hell, and was bored..but then it came back with some things and I was like...laughing my head off.

I can't wait to see it, The Hitch Hiker's Guide is one of my favourite books. :D Douglas Adams, the author, also wrote the 'Meaning of Liff' - he took weird place names around the world and gave them meanings. For instance:

AFFPUDDLE (n.)
A puddle which is hidden under a pivoted paving stone. You only know it's there when you step on the paving stone and the puddle shoots up your leg.

BAUMBER (n.)
A fitted eleasticated bottom sheet which turns your mattress bananashaped.

TEGUCIGALPA (n.)
An embarrassing mistake arising out of confusing the shape of something rather rude with something perfectly ordinary when groping for it in the darkness. A common example of a tegucigalpa is when a woman pulls a packet of Tampax out of her bag and offers them around under the impression that it is a carton of cigarettes.

THRUPP (vb.)
To hold a ruler on one end on a desk and make the other end go bbddbbddbbrrbrrrrddrr.

I think the humour is quite British... :p

Oh, and by the way, the humour in Douglas Adams' works kinda reminds me of the humour in Red Dwarf, in a way - which is seriously awesome, by the way - does anyone whatch that?

Glad someone else agrees! :D Chris Barrie plays Rimmer so well, he's got some really funny facial expressions that just say 'Rimmer'. :p

Anyway, I'm getting off topic... back to Hitch Hiker's Guide.

Please tell me the flowerpot is in the film..?

I think you have to be in a group to appreciate the film any further.

With Kingdom of Heaven to come out, Hitchhikers won't stay at the top for long.

hmmm...kingdom of heaven...orlando bloom...guess I'll have to see that one. still need to see hitchikers though, I'm a little scared though with all the mixed reviews I've been hearing on it. they should have had all british actors for the earthlings. eh, rambling opinion, sorry!

Ugh, after reading the book I didn't like the film. The story was 60% changed. Stupid.
I like Marvin though ^_^
