I *think* this is the place to post it, but then... I'm having alot of computer problems, so one of them should belong to this section.

1. when I start up the internet, I get this IE window pop up taking me to the following place: C:\WINDOWS\index.html

2. when I settle myself on the internet (and this just happened by the way, so I've been reminded, I get taken to the following place: file:///c:/WINDOWS/update-sp1.html

(the "sp-1" bit changes to "sp-2" "sp-3" "sp-4") so I have to click back four times to get to where I was. Most annoying.

3. pop ups. left right and center. Every 30 seconds at the very least. I have no idea where they are coming from: I don't use IE, I don't even seem to have it on my pc.. but I must have, because they are IE pop ups. I've installed the google toolbar.. which includes the pop up blocker, but thats not working.

4. ebates money maker. Adaware keeps coming up with it. I went onto google, typed it in, all the results told me to get rid of it... but the instructions just don't follow what I have. The things it tells me to delete for ebates, isn't there to delete. Weird. It may be the reason for all the pop up problems.

5. Bloody msn. I keep getting windows every couple of minutes, that look like the ones attached. Why!? Why would I get them?

6. Browser problems. Occassionally (not always) it will just stop working: I will get things like: "neocodex.us can't be found" "neopets.com can't be found" After about half an hour or so of constant adawaring I will be finally allowed to use my browsers.

7. Other type of browser problems. It simple won't register the website I want to go to. I have to click the link/press "go"/refresh several times before the status bar green thing actually appears and takes me to that page.

Yeh. so :p Any bright spark know what I should do?

I'll let you take remote access via msn if you think you can work it out.
I've reformatted, I've reinstalled, I've deleted, I've downloaded, I've followed every bleedin' instruction :(

Thanks :)

Do you have any good protection from viruses, spyware, adware, etc?

Try running some anti-spyware programs in safe mode. Otherwise, they might not delete (as in my case).

I am using firefox ;) First thing I did when I reformatted.

I had adaware, and Robert sent me this Mcaffee thingywhasit... thing, which wouldn't install. And I can't seem to install anything along the lines of anti-virus, come to think of it.

I got something called Zone Alert: but that just pissed me off to be honest: so annoying

Is adaware actually going to do anything? It never seems to delete things on a permanent basis.

I'll go check out that topic now.

    Cheers guys ;) You're great!

I have reformatted. Reformatted was the first thing I did when I couldn't download anti virus stuff, and then when that was done, I was given about 50 new problems to deal with: some of which I've cleared up.

To remove spyware I use Hitman Pro.
Just google it up and download it.
    Its fuly automatic so you don't have to do something;
The only problem is that you cant use the computer during operating the script.
