Ok, today's been pretty much the hottest day of the year, so what happens to my computer, gets infected with a truck load of viruses and keyloggers, I keep losing all my neopoints on neopets so I think "Screw this", and I had to system restore my computer back to april, meaning I have to wait about 3 hours, just for it to finish all and eveuntally, after downloading everything I need, it's alot faster.

So I think to myself "FINALLY", then what happens? My enter and delete key fall out of my keyboard..and my computers a laptop...that will explain my grammar and spelling and so on..

You don't know how bad I want to scream and shout at this computer...it's too hot for all this..

I've been using Windows for almost a decade and I'm yet to have a serious problem. Infact I haven't had one virus or piece of ad/spyware in almost 2 years.

I don't know what sites you've been on but I've never had beastiality or kiddy porn pop ups. But Windows has more compatability and there are more dedicated help sites and it's just an easier OS to use.

Many programs on Windows you will be able to run through linux with either emulators or a little tweeking. Now what will you want:

    A) A OS with alot of viruses
    or
    B) A OS with little viruses that OS A has.

    I choose B for def.

Or use an OS that has nothing wrong with it, the only problem is how people like STM bum Linux to the eyeballs and spend their time making virii for Windows, that's why it has a bad rep.

Yeah ok fair enough about STM bumming the OS.

But still you judging something you have not tried. I have tried it but couldnt get my internet to work but that wont be a problem now as I am getting rid of wireless and going to cable ^_^ .

I've actually tried it on my friend's computer, some geek installed it over XP and she kept complaining that you basicly need a degree to be able to use it, I went on it and it was near user friendly but way off Windows' simplicity.

Ok so yes Windows is easy to use but have you seen how many updates they have. From my recovery disks yet alone I had to download 40 updates and with dodgey internet access it took the piss.

As for Linux I aint seen the updates but I doubt there be less :)

And you can easily get XP back if you got recovery disks.

    That made no sense what-so-ever.

And why are you making updates to be a bad thing? You'd rather you not have up-to-date software and leave yourself vulnerable to crashes?

Actually SP2 CRANBERRIESs my internet up :p so I dont run SP2 at all.

SP1 took me 5 reconnects and 2 hours to get it and it didnt fix my problem <_<

However when Windows Longhorn comes out I may buy it and see what its like :)

Yes it does  ;)   but is it a coincidence that (arguably) the best browser out ther is Linux native and is open-source, just as Linux is?

The only good thing I see about Linux is the customizability..Having to emulate shit is a pain. Especially when you have to buy a good emulator. -.-

I have a warranty, so hopefully that will change it. I might get my comp fully wiped and get someone to install linux on it and show me the rropes.

Linux is truly awful. First off a distro can come from 1-4 discs, while windows comes on one. When installing linux it frequently asks you to change discs which makes you want to smash up your comp (especially on a hot day). Windows has higher compatibility, 90% of programs made will not work on linux. Then theres modem compatibility, no distro- apart from redhat is compatable with my NTL cable modem- no help offered at all. Then theres running programs, windows is simply double-click icon and you're away. Linux its, you click, you must download those 5 librarys, downgrade thise 2, upgrade these 7, turn around touch the ground and pick your mom up from the airport. Most distro's make you pay for upgrades, while all windows upgrades are free (except to a new OS). Why is everyone constantly bad mouthing windows? SP2 is the best this they done, it makes my system run alot smoother. Sure I et the occasional spyware/malware but thats easily wiped using a program. Strict neo-nazi moderation? I think not, a simple anti-virus and I'm quite heavily protected. You think linux is undefeatable? Its open source, meaning anyone can look at it and withing minute write a script to destroy the distro on your computer. Emulating? Emulating is shit and needs a CRANBERRIESload of RAM. I'm quite happy with windows and cannot wait til the new windows OS comes out.

So in other words you're gonna illegally download one contributing to world piracy. Which is also against the rules to mention on here.
