Its hard for me to decide what I want to be :(
Im thinking either something in Business, Engineering, or Treasure Hunting/History.
I've always loved History...and Engineering has intrigued me...Business makes money though.

So what do you want to be?

lets see..... everyone wants to work with computers/graphics, so I'll give up on that dream and instead be a farmer and I'll have a monopoly on the food industry since nobody else wants the job, then I'll charge you $200 for a loaf of bread :p :shifty:

Why are so people interested in computers, I find it a mere hobby.

I'm starting university in the spring to become a nurse.
I've known I've wanted a medicine-orientated career for years. Originally planned to be a paramedic, but the course requires a 2 year driving course.
So I decided on nursing for the meantime.

    Game Developer/Designer

If anything, IT is a great fallback. In about five years, all the old coots in the business will be retiring, and they'll need more people. You think, with everyone doing IT, that they wouldn't need so many people...but apparently, in the scheme of things, there aren't that many people doing it at all.

Canadian Member of Parliament. Might actually happen, I've gotten myself a job with the Conservative party, and odds are that if their current candidate in my riding loses, I'll be the candidate for the next one. Go Me!

Afterwards though, I'm still planning on becoming a RC Priest.

wouldn't actually be too hard in my riding. I was going to run as an independant this time, but the pay wouldn't be enough to cover my expenses if I were to win.

Perhaps a CSI or something to do with computers? I'm still not sure, but I still have lots of time :)

Well its good to see a normal person attempt to go into politics. We aren't doomed after all! :p

I am considering an occupation in Electrical Engineering, but Civil Engineering looks pretty interesting as well. It pays good. :p

I haven't really put much thought into it, but I think I could actually make a good teacher. I would be one of the teachers most people like, let the kids eat and do some other stuff most teacher's (in my school, anyways) don't allow in class as long as they're paying attention :D

Terms and Conditions: By your virtue of being a Neocodex member and by looking at the first 2 letters of this sentence you hereby agree that I, mandarin_orange1220, am not liable for shattering your dreams/aspirations or for leading you down the wrong career path. Furthermore, you agree not to sue, flame, or blame me for any misdirections.

Ok, since I'm in college right now, allow me to shed some light on some career paths for you guys. First of all, I'll start with my own: I'm a business student, majoring in finance, and I want to be a trader (trading stocks, bonds, commodities, etc.). Why business? One word: Money. I chose finance because it's the only business subject that keeps me awake in class and I always get good grades in it.

    Now, for the other careers.

    Accountant:
Unless you are comfortable with numbers and don't mind looking at them for the whole day, I would strongly advise against going into this field. You don't have to be a math genius to be successful in this field. Hard work, persistence, and patience are what I believe to be the essential factors in this field. If you don't like numbers, but still want to be an accountant for some weird, freaky reason, then maybe you could go into accountancy law. My profs say these people who specialize in accounting + law make $h!+ loads of money. Of course, computer literacy is always a plus.

    Engineering:
Engineering, depending which college you want to go, may require insane math skillz. I used to want to go into this field, but when I got a part-time job working for an engineering department during high school, I realized that it was not for me. A lot of research + analysis. I didn't really get to build stuff. If you're good and specialize in the right area, expect to make some decent money. My friend specialized in computer/electrical engineering, 80K per year right after graduating. He works for Oracle right now.

    IT, Computer Programming, Web Designing:
I don't know much about their salary levels, but I heard it's recently been going down because most companies are hiring programmers India who are willing to accept lower salaries than North American counterparts. As for the work itself, I guess if youre really interested in it, then it shouldn't be a problem. Math and computer buffs would be a big plus.

As for the other occupations, I don't really have good knowledge or know anyone working in those areas. Sorry about that.

I think working for the FBI or some sort of Governmental Conspiracy Agency would be uber kick ass.
