GFX Requests Modification (you will be able to send requests to the GFX team instead of posting in a topic for them). This will include signature and avatar requests as well.

I am not sure what slink meant by this but... I have a good idea! :D

People can decide to send a request out (if not then they post it), and a forum mod will choose like let's say 5 members to do the job, and if they do it they get certain points, if their sig gets used they get certain points.... maybe? or maybe you don't need the point thing because of competition, but it's a nice way to see who's active, and to motivate people to continue gfx

Well... the thing is... I like the old system better. That way anyone who wants to do it can do it even if they aren't on the team. And say... someone wants a specific style and the request isn't sent out to anyone who is particularly good in that style? Say someone for example... wants a sig like Jillians. It's just better to make a topic, methinks. Much easier. Besides... people might forget about the request. It does happen. How about we just really keep topics?

Well if we do both, we can still do the thread ones, and it can give the GFX Team a boost of actvity, 'cause to be honest to be a GFX member you don't have to do... well... anything. o.o Maybe give more opprutunities?

Why not just have a box in the GFX team section that shows all the current unanswerd requests?

sending it to specific members could lead to problems :/ such as most if not all of them dont want to are arent on in a while. And if its sent to just specific members then some people who may excell in that catagory of graphics may miss out. :/

I'm thinking more of an Overall GFX Credits system. They would be interesting in a way, but it would be limited to certain members to be able to vote + (I'm thinking AGT).

Then again, thats like reputation. Not good :(

Also the issue of the Graphics point system is... that for people like me who usually spend at least 4 hours on a sig... it's hard... VERY HARD... to do requests... unlike say... someone who uses brushing, render, color balance which when I did it took me like... 15 minutes max.

I agree with Tetiel, everybody has a different strength, in some cases that means vector gfx and if I'm not mistake in takes quite a few hours to make one signature so it would be unfair to expect somebody to spend so long on a request. Also when you get chosen to do a signature, it makes you feel obliged to make it, weather you want to or not.
I do like the idea of points but I do not agree we should do it; it will bring too much competitiveness into the section.

I think when an request is made, it goes in a GFX team section and a certain amount of members say they will carry out the request. That way normal members gets an equal amount of signatures to choose from than say a member of a higher rank who is likely to be bombarded by signatures; way more than he/she will actually be using.

That idea, but points as in credits so we can buy PSD's and brushes. :p

I don't think we should be selling our PSDs or brushes, too much like Gamerenders. Also we are a community so we should share our PSDs/brushes for free, help eachother excel without charging for the knowledge.

While you may be right, people may choose something you do over someone else's, and when you choose the style you're most comfortable with, you adapt to it, as each style has it easy parts and hard parts. Right now Tetiel I can tell each piece of work takes a significant amount of time, but you see... that's why in the future you will excel this style... I don't think you know what I mean but... yea... lol.

I'll forward this to Alias, he's helping me do some of the modifications and it may give him some ideas. :D

:/ I agree with Tet... she brings up excellent points.

What does it matter that you don't have to do a lot to be in GFX team? Some people do have other things to do and can't spew off endless amounts of trite signatures for an innane point system.

I think the request system could work as long as the forum method can still be used. As Tet said, non-gfx members fill out requests too; that's how many of them get better at what they do and form their own style (as opposed to using tuts and copying others' styles) before even applying for GFX. While the system seems to work as it is, I think requests would be cool, when a member has a certain artist in mind before posting their thread, to avoid hurting peoples' feelings when thirty people reply (of course, even now requests can be done by PMs)

It's worth a try to have the requests. I thought we've already talked about a point system/ kicking off lesser artists/ showing off good (or just productive) artists' works by putting them above others. Can't we just accept that the GFX team is the GFX team and everyone does what they can for it? It's not THAT bad to have everyone on an equal playing field, is it?

Mm, that sounds awesome, guys. *still can't believe you can do all that ;P* So it's basically what we have now, but streamlined and automated.

I really like this idea, now that you've explained it.... as long as there are no points. I just don't think there needs to be a ranking system - GFX shouldn't be like that; graphics are just too subjective - in time to make, style desired, trends, etc etc - to think that a points system would help organize anything - even just activity. Points would turn into a popularity contest cattier than reps were. Also, would nongfx members be able to submit sigs for consideration.
