Im sure that most people here have a paypal account. I have a questions--
Can you create a paypal account without using a credit card? As in, (Example!) I create an account and recieve $20 for selling my bike to my friend, and then use the $20 to buy whatever it is I want to buy, as long as its under the $20 in the account. Is this possible?

How does the bank account option work?

Also: If I did do the credit card option, are the charges actually to the credit card, or is everything online and the card is just used for verification?

They ask for your account number and routing number and stuff first, then in a few days they make two deposits into your account, ranging from 1 to 99 cents. Then you get your statement and type in the two numbers they deposited to verify it's your account.

And for a credit card, the money comes off the actual card. Where else would it come from, lol. Your account starts at $0.00 and you have to use either your credit card or your bank account to deposit money into it. You can't spend it unless you draw from one of those sources into your paypal account first

So, no matter if I recieve $10 before spending $5, the $5 dollars still comes from the credit card, even though the account has more money than is being spent? -ish confused- :p

Well the paypal account is like a bank account, so if 10 dollars gets put in it, then you can use it. Although I'm not sure if receiving money is free... I only know of sending being free

edit: I may be wrong though, I don't know. I just remember seeing on the main page that it said free for buyers, but it didn't say free for people receiving money

they take x percentage of money received.. yeah..

Assuming I keep more money in the account than im buying with, and I tell my mom its not going to cost her anything and use her credit card, she wont see any changed. Correct? (That sentence was worded horribly :p )

With paypal, you can recieve money without a bank account. but in order to send money Via paypal, you need a bank account.

They take a percentage of money sent AND recieved.

If you have 50.00 $in the account, and a card also on the account, and you but a 60.00$ item, it will use those 50$ and then 10 from the card.

    Ok, thanks.

Your first statement means that as long as im not buying anything, I dont have to have a credit card? Well, I guess that would be kinda pointless :p

I don't think they take money from you if you buy something from eBay. I buy stuff from eBay all the time but extra money isn't taken. As for the credit card thing, if you don't feel safe keeping your credit card information on paypal, you can always take the credit card off of paypal.

    Uhm, actually.

You don't need a credit card, bank account, or anything for PayPal. I use PayPal for certain things, and I don't have a bank account or credit card. You just can't receive more then $800 in one month, and you can never send more then $1250 total.
