A lot of people think that if they go into a room, that not many people will share their birthday...actually...if there are 23 people or more in the room, the chances are above average that you will share a birthday with someone in the room.

True... but most people I know who would fake a birthday would be more likely to alter the year rather than the month and day. Never mind though - there must just be a lot of people who fake birthdays.

Why does the theory apparently make sense anyway? The probability doesn't add up.

This is bogus. In all my school years, over 200 different kids atleast throughout all the classes, throughout all 3 schools not 1 person has had the same birthday as me.

Maybe it's certain months, or starting of names. eg.
Room 1: January - March or A-F
Room 2: April - June or H-K
Room 3: July - September or L-P
Room 4: October - December or Q-Z
