Well here we are again. Due to some overreacting I will only be posting my major custom sprites because some people *you know who you are* think its really easy and I'm "stealing" from nintendo by using bases. *cough whereyougettingyoursigimagesthief cough*

Please post links to all the bases you used, and make it clear these are recolours and simple edits, or I'm afraid the exact same issue is going to arise again.

Plus with the exception of just TWO spirtes these have all been posted before. Some twice before. At codex we do not post sigs twice since it is redundant even in a period of absense so please edit your post to just include the two.

Hmm touchy touchy. I posted the first few cause its a gallery of sorts. So unless im not permitted to have a gallery then let me know and i'll delete them. Really I don't understand why you people think spriting is so easy =/


First off is Keith. His hair is a large mixture of all those you see there. If you've ever worked on sprites, you would understand how difficult hair is to splice together. Especially from 5 hosts. With the exemption of the strap which is from Raven(top right which is customized from the original strap to fit the other side) and the straps to the shirt the body is my work and my design.


Next is John. John is even more custom. More so then splices. The head is simpler but was more difficult to fit. (NOTE: ONCE THE HAIR IS SPLICED IT MUST STILL BE EDITED TO FIT. Try copy pasting and see the results of splicing if your curious. There is no such thing as a perfect splice. Best there is is maybe 50-75% match.) But we're focusing on the body. Notice I showed the my outline while i made this one. Rare that i do that. I started off in the top left and didn't like it so i decided to make a full custom body using the other neck for reference to shading.

There you asked for my sheets, there you go. Now just as a quick closing. I only know one spriter who has ever completed a mugshot of that complexity without using spliced parts. So before you think its easy I ask you, no urge you to make a sprite of good quality. I'll even give you an entire page on mugs from games and from my own work for you to use. If you can come close to what I can make then you have a right to call it "these are recolours and simple edits".

Just real quick on that one. "these are recolours and simple edits" I am deeply offended at that one. You posted my sheet and called it recolouring. You failed to recognize that he does not follow the attack pattern set up by the original sheet. Please, check your sources Joe.

o wow you recolored a sheet. I was expecting changes made. Go look at Shurtugal. His original sheet was ephraim, FE8. Go find it and see how much I changed. I can do a recolor like what you did in 5 minutes or less. And like i said in PM. I expect 3 types of hair and 3 bodies if not fully custom like mine. No recolors alone.

that is weird as hell i'm sorry. Eyes are nothing like real eyes. wtf are those? you only erased part of the shirt and shoved on another piece. Effort 0. THAT is an easy recolor/edit Joe. NOT what i do. Compare yours to mine. Which looks better? Mine. Why? Because i put hard work into it. Thanks for proving my point that its not as easy as it looks. Oh an so you know, you spent 45 minutes on the sprite and a good hour or more on that mug. I was counting. Mine took me 15 minutes.

So in closing, Sprites are NOT easy and I AM no longer penalized for them being "simple edits/recolors".

P.S: I never said fully custom. I said Johns body was ^.~ BIG difference there. See I know that its splicing and customizing and all but your point was that it was easy and didn't desearve respect. Sorry you lose =P

I'm talking the sprite(little man) not the mug. The mug was about a day to get it right and animated. Mugs are much more difficult then smaller sprites IMO.

Is this pick on vex or something? Damn every one there some sprites there not the easyst thing in the world yet there not the hardest. He didnt ask to be biched at about them so please im sure he would agree with me if you do not have anything nice to say DO NOT SAY IT AT ALL

You're not spriting, you're splicing.

Unless you create the image pixel by pixel, you don't create the sprite. These so called "sprite artists" that use bases aren't sprite artists, they manipulate into pixel art.

It may not be easy editing, or easy recolouring, but it's taking someone elses work, manipulating it, and calling it your own.

That's not creating your own sprites...

I'm not saying that you don't have talent, just that your work shouldn't be classified as "Custom Sprites."

That is full custom pixel by pixel MINE. The ending is that way because I never finished it due to its difficulty but I plan to finish it sometime soon. So the whole sword thing is just a filler.

For reference, while I was "making" the sprites, I was talking to Tetiel on MSN, finding the sprite sheet, reinstalling Photoshop and making a cup of tea.
While I was "making" the mug, I was having dinner.



Oh, and by the way, you challenged me to use three hairstyles, and three bodies. Which I did.

Now please stop with your acustations and swings at me before it's considered a flame. Which then you'd have to take care of yourself...which would result in a Paradox.

Now really, I believe that we can both be mature about this so I kindly ask you to leave unless you have something production to say such as "this could help if you..." or "what if you were too?". Not "well look at these they're better than you. Weep now!"
