It's not the end of The Simpsons. The show did go down from 12 million ratings to 9.2 million ratings as of season 17, but Groening has said "As long as we keep having fun doing them, we'll keep on doing them." The movie will only contribute to the series.

dude the simpsons is a whole part of my life it cant die yet its the only show preventing a whole generation of family guy knock-offs

Simpsons should have ended a few years ago when it stopped being funny. Ive been watching simpsons all my life and the show went down hill like 5 years ago. Theres only like 1 or 2 episodes from each of the newer seasons that are good.

The movie actually is kind of like a finale, they will maybe do one last season after the movie, but probably that's it.
I believe it's ending 2009 or something like that.
I say this because I read it sometime back on the Yahoo news as it caught my eye.

i wouldn't doubt it if it was the finale. they have alot of work. the same people do family guy, american dad, and futurama, am i correct?

I also heard that they had a 'contract' till 2008/2009, but it's still sad they'll quit.. Stilll have to see some episodes

don't really watch the simpsons..recently i've been getting back into it watching it when its on late.
i love family guy and all, but its really fucked up how they stole the simpsons glory with such a copy. especially when they both air within an hour or so from each other on the same network
