I just have a question; to be a moderator, do you need to be retired? just curious, since i noitced that STM is only a private member now.
Oh, goodness no. In fact currently a lot of moderators are NOT retired (the ones most recently promoted). Brkn, Joe, nor Zulfi are retired, they still have to be nominated and voted in and all that jazz.

Basically, no prerequisites are required at all to become a Moderator.
I'll move this to Forum Help anyway, as that's where this sort of thing belongs.

Plew, to answer your question.
SMods lead Mods, and generally point us in the right direction when needed. They have more control over the running of the board, editting capabilities etc.

whats the difference between smod and mod?
Smods have more forums to administrate For instance, they can see both the Advanced Graphics Section and the Private Leader section of the board, even though they have no buisiness being there. (Smod stamp of approval my arse )
Mods are restricted to moderating forums they can already see.

May I ask the difference between Admin and Smod?
Admins have full power over Admin CP and can change the board around as they please. Oh, and Hobo... smods can promote people too. I've annoyed Pyke a lot with promotions for GFX team

Ya but can't admins only promote staff or can they just promote people to smods?
Technically, Smods are supposed to keep their nosy little bums out of aCP without admin permission, but since they were given access to it to relieve some of the pressure of admins, they sort of have to.
Smods can promote people, demote people, ban people, etc.
Admins have full access to every section of the board (besides root access, which is still hydro only (?)) and have authoritarian power. Yes, I know that's not exactly the nicest of terms, but its basically true. While the adminstration lets private play our democracy games (), they still have the power to overrule any decision by anyone on the board.

So you don't have to be Retired to get Mod

Not really. Every single admin gets root access... how do you think I do maintenance on the site?
There's really isn't such thing as "different administrator levels" here, other than Hydro owning rights to the hosting.
May I ask the difference between Admin and Smod?
Administrators have full access to the Admin CP (SMods only have partial access to ACP, the parts having to do with editing members), full access to cPanel (including databases and FTP) and Invision Power Services updates.

Nope, retired is not a requirement (I see it's been answered many times already in here, lol).

Lol, is anyone actually being voted into retired anymore?
No recent promotions seen here
Actually, we promote people semi-often. Eric got in september, gargar in august, and I the month before that. Pretty high rates for retired, actually.
And Freak, that has happened in the past (cody wasn't voted into private the first time) but they're given private perms. When we had the artmoney team, a lot of them got promoted solely on that skill. Noit
