The world really needs to start focusing more on the occurring climate changes 1we8.gif .
QUOTE
Unchecked climate change would turn 200 million people into refugees, the largest migration in modern history, as their homes succumbed to drought or flood.

That's quite absurd. Hopefully some changes are introduced soon. Seems like a good time to start, rather then 10 years down the road when millions of people are flooded over or other such effects of global warming.

Your thoughts?

There's no visable and or scientific proof that we have caused global warming. Infact according to science, we should be going through a climate change anyway since the Earth usually goes through changes every couple of million years?

So you will move to a more polluted place? 1we8.gif The logic behind that is beyond me.

According to my extra-curricular view, does not have the climatic change occurrence, or is not at least as a result of person's function. I believed that, this is a natural period, we need to stop blaming it in us, and we need to discover the explanation

seriously i dont think it is the case. the Earth has seen an average of 5-10 degree celsius increase in the last 10 years. if this continues, my country(singapore) would reach the temperature of 40 degree celsius in 2 or so decades time. the constant increase in temperature is definitely not a natural period considering it does not stop at all.

Any I meant is in the thousands several years, that constructs at the human knowledge. After we are unable to use the record to explain the history antecedent.

now for flooding....i that would be horrific cuz im from the coast...or maybe it would be better cuz the ocean would be even closer...if animals are gonna die or get extinct..so be it
if california rips off the continent, ill move, pollution, ill move to mexico 1we8.gif

seriously i think its a irresponsible statement. you might enjoy it, but think of people living in Africa. the high tem[erature there had already had them suffering. the extinct in animals would only results in them having more insufficient food and many more to suffer or die.

40 C is hot but not as hot that you can say your gonna die, im used to 45 C , beyond that get in a air conditioned room 1we8.gif

what is the normal temperatur in singapore?

it can get as high as 34 degree celsius. you could even sweat while walking before the sun even rises.

Have you taken a course with statistics?

Ever hear of this thing called extrapolation?

Its bad man, dont do it. You are not God, you have no way of telling if the temperature will continue to rise, or if it is caused by humans. So do not go beyond the boundries of the data set we currently have.

Hell, I could make the assumption that 500 years ago it was -450 degrees celsius because that fits the trend of "Earth has seen an average of 5-10 degree celsius increase in the last 10 years".

Obviously that did not happen, but see my point?

I get it, but as you see, the increase in temperature only happens about a decade ago, as countries are advancing thru industries development. As a lot of them neglect the external cost of pollution produced and it is not taken into account as a cost, the industries tends to produce more than the socially optinum level as producers want to make as much money as possible. The increase in pollution ( not only by industries but also from the exhaust pipes from vehicles, especially those that are not do not even install catalytic converter in it) and usage of CFC products cause the ozone layer to have a hole resulting in global warming. More trees being cut down also results in more CO2 not being replenished. Increase in CO2 is thus also a major cause for global warming.

To summarise all, this trend happens only after we started developing/ modernizing.

We were pumping CO2 and CFCs into the ozone like crazy in the 60s and 70s, the temperature was going down. Explain please?

I see no mention of the sun anywhere in your post. Incase you didnt know, the sun goes through periodic warmer/colder cycles. Say the earth is a car. Ignoring the sun is like ignoring the engine. Do you ignore your engine? 1we8.gif

climate changes are inevitable, since technically we are still coming out of an ice age, according to a professor my sister had at U of A. 1we8.gif

speaking of climate... I was talking to a new friend here in japan, he said winters here can get to as cold as -5 celcius.

I laughed in his face. and then I told him in Alberta alone, winters can get to around -60.

    his reaction was comical.

It's going to be hell in a couple of decades in this generation's time. We are running out of resouces and the planet is heating up. What are we going to do in the next fifty years that could help to save millions of lives? Nothing if we don't start now.

hmm i must have forgotten about the Sun tongue.gif
but anyway CO2 were released in the 60s and 70s but the temperature did not rise as there is still sufficient rainforest in the world to help take in CO2 and replenish it with O2. But in the last 1/2 decades. the Amazon forest, one of the biggest in the world, is being wiped out at an amazingly alarming rate due to the south american countries industrializing. Therefore it results in fewer and fewer rainforests being able to replenish the CO2 we produced.

Agree. Our undoings might cause the next generations to suffer.
