Well forcing them to post won't make the appreciate the programmers (well most anyway), because 5 posts is such a low number it can easily be acomplished in a few minutes.

Yeah, it was largely ineffective. laugh.gif

Also, if you haven't noticed already, there really isn't anyone leading the news team. 1we8.gif We're still trying to replace Casilla because she wants us to find someone to succeed her. Other than that, instead of getting the leechers to contribute to the site, I suppose we could think of some incentives to get work rewarded and stuff. tongue.gif

I think just one post will be ok... well, it´s not me who decide ^^

People that talk like this with that amount of posts probably decrease those chances eh? wink.gif

Spoken like a true leecher.

Anyways..

I think posts are definitely the wrong way to go here. I think a person needs to be a member here for a certain amount of time, say one or two weeks, before they can access the programs.

Of course, I realize this system isn't all that great, but it may work tongue.gif Maybe use it in conjunction with a post count requirement?

You also posted a two character post and a post that was a "free bump" aka spam.
So I don't think one post would be good, since people like you would just come here post once, download programs then never post again.

The only problem with Dolphin's idea is that they'll just make an account and leave it for the amount of time they have to wait.

I think it should be 20 non-spam posts. If we notice any spam from "new members", we should reset their post count to zero.

We would lose a lot of potential members. Observe:

Funny, way back when the regs where closed, activity was up and there were alot of members, but now we have lower activity than we used to (atleast from what ive seen from 3 weeks?) and more leechers.

hmm,i know iam not in the right to even build a opinion, iam not a programmer, not a old member.
...(short version down at the end of this posting)...
but what i have seen in my few days here,is quite alot of information, many guides, its nice to "leech that informations" (i know how you like that word)
personaly i dont care much ,how many postings i have done so far,all my postings r written after i think about, what i wanne say.even if they r in a bad shape, since english is far away from my mainlanguage.
the fact is,spammer will always find a ways, but after some ideas n think abouts..
one question: is it hard to build up a boardaddon, what counts words?i mean..this board have some real nice functions, and such a simple thing..i dunno
my idea was, a posting with more then 20 words= no spam.i know even that could be cheatet, but hey,its a try. and such "hi,iam new" sorry. wont work then
for many ppl its a easy way to get tools, but for some its quite more intresting,to learn how to make very own tools, like me. ill try to understand and to create some, but this will take some time.and this board is far more then a few tools what run in the backround, but such spammers wont even notice that.
my focus is to keep some accounts in shape(means to get NP) with the existing tools.and also create my very own igloo aut.b. since its possible ,the member and the written guides, offers this ability.

the olds need to give the newbs, some chances to let them "grow up,into the scene"
and avoid postings like "who to hell r you"if they have some facts as informations.

my two cents

.....short version...
make a boardsystem what counts ,20words = no spam, +1 postingcount, something like that
and give newbs a chance to grow up into the scene, some might have potential, even if they dont speak english well

I want members to just be active because they want to be apart of the community. We can't force them to be active but we can attract them to be.

How we do that is probably by ignoring them and they'll see how we get along and they'll want to be apart of it smile.gif

well i agree with what zero said. just put crap programs into members zone better programs into advanced members zone and best in retired/private.

0 post would be sufficient.

um Im a new member- a very new member and I guess this is one of my five posts....
I did come here for the downloads! But I am enjoying talking to others, asking for help and maybe one day be able to help others....Im sticking around downloads or no downloads.
Now I dont know what people mean when they same "spam"
Maybe it is what I am doing right now and for that I am sorry.
BUT if I may add a thought....
Maybe it shouldnt have anything to do with the amount of posts we make.
Maybe it could be on a week sytem...A member for one week earns you the right to one download etc etc.
If people STILL stick around without having the downloads, if they still stick around just to hang out, chat etc then those are the ones who would stay with or without downloads...
I think the ones who are just here for the downloads wouldnt bother sticking around knowing there was a "grace period" before they could download anything....
I dont know, its late here for me, Im half asleep -- It was just a thought as I see the "old" members are fed up with the newbies such as myself.

lol SPAM = Short pointless annoying message. Just when someone will post things that arent relevant to the topic or are just like 3 letters like "lol!" or something.

The week system might not work for other because they will want to do it but then just die off. I think of it like a thing of fish, you catch 50 but you dont want to eat them until a week left out in the sun. Its makes them spoiled and they just sit there not active or taste good tongue.gif If you get it xD
