Almost all of you people would die because of the supplies you're taking. An axe? To kill a zombie? Puhleeeeeeease. In old europe they used to only use the axe for peasants. Why? It takes about three strikes to decapitate and they're in pure agony when it happens. Imagine a hoard of zombies hobbling toward you, you can't AFFORD to take three swipes per one. A chainsaw? Sure, it's powerful but it needs gas and also it has a huge amount of noise! Do you want to attract hundreds of more zombies to your presence? And just ONE gun? Absolutely not! And most likely you guys are untrained so you need one with a laser light to aim to ensure a head shot. Also the absolute preferred choice is a semi-automatic and you always, always need a secondary gun as well as a non-ammo weapon. You have all chosen the wrong one. Have fun being devoured or being a zombie.
What is the right close combat weapon to choose? A katana is an excellent choice. And no, not those fake crappy display katanas, I mean the real damn thing. It could easily sever a head effortlessly. But what is the true best weapon? The shaolin spade. Yes, many of you have probably never heard of such a thing but it is a weapon specifically built for decapitation. It's a six foot wooden staff with a flat, bell-shaped blade thatr's extremely sharp and an outward facing crecent moon blade on the other. This weapon is rare, but the most effective close combat weapon you will find. Start the process of getting one NOW. Sure, it's not very good for indoor situations but for open space you will never find a better weapon. Indoors is why you have the katana

By the way, if you're trying to go somewhere in a sendan like car, good luck you'll need it

Sedans can't go over much terrain so you wouldn't get very far. If there truly is a zombie attack imagine the kinds of roadblocks you'd face. Car crashes, hoards of zombies or dead bodies on the road, police raid blocks, etc. You'd need to go offroad for such things. And even those SUVs mostly can't even do that as they have become "luxury" vehicles. And forget your truck. The low gas milage will turn you into canned food. An armored car is the best bet for a moving vehicle but the severe problem is: it makes noise and noise attracts zombies. What you need and is the best of both worlds is a bike, yes, a bike. It's thin, easily avoids things, doesn't make noise and if the terriain is too tough you can pick it up and carry it! Mountain bikes preferred, of course.
Where should you go? Should you choose to remain in your homes, make sure you have a two story house. No? GET OUT. With a two story home you have stairs and in order to stay there safely you will need to destroy them so no zombie will be able to get to you and you will remain safe. However there is the problem with supplies and this is by no means a good idea for a class 4 (zombies have taken over the world ala dawn of the dead) zombie seige. That will force you to be long term for possibly years and I highly doubt any of you have a years supply of food in your home. Always, always avoid hospitals or police stations as that is where the infection will spread first obviously. Cornors, sadly are always the first attacked

Optimal places? Like Frizzle said a military base would be an excellent choice however there is an extreme problem if a zombie gets in there, just even one can destroy the whole base. Believe it or not Off-shore oil rigs are perfect for such times. They are isolated from land and even though zombies can walk underwater, they could not climb your tower. They have medical supplies, distillaries, plentiful power as it IS an oil rig, almost unlimited supplies of food as it is the sea and there's kelp and fish readily available. The problem is, you will have to be computer savvy enough to figure out how to run the place and eventually because salty air has currosion powers, it will eventually completely deteriorate but by then it will have been about 10 years or more depending.
And as a final rule, always, always avoid urban areas
