I think it's a good move, especially when the majority of America is in bad health.

As for me, it doesn't really affect me, since I read nutrition labels anyway and avoid foods with lots of trans fat.

heck yeah it is a good idea. if only we can do that to everywhere else. then it would lead to less fatness ( biggrin.gif )

It's really a good idea, I think. New York is one of the fatter cities in America and I think we really need it :\ Next stop: the whole state of Texas.

Definately a good idea, hope it catches on in other places. Trans fat is frightful stuff, my mum is very wary of it and when I come to reading my own labels and that I certainly will be too. Mum found it in a sachet of instant hot chocolate the other day I think blink.gif.

Personally, I think's a great move, and that it should happen in all states. America is way too obese and overweight, it's about time people started doing something about it.

Hopefully all states start adopting this. I think the big reason most people don't eat healthier things is because the non-healthy things are the ones made most readily available. If unhealthy things like trans fats were banned everywhere, I don't think it'd upset anyone and we'd all be better for it.

Agreed with Brkn. The reason that many of us eat unhealthy food is because we can get it so easily. From what I've heard, in New York, there is at least one McDonalds per every 2 blocks. Sure, McDonalds does have some healthy options. But, they're the most expensive things on the menu (salads sell for 4 to 5 dollars). Maybe if there were some healthier choices on the dollar menu, people would be more interested in buying them. I think this could be a great marketing opportunity for McDonalds. smile.gif

Actually even their SALADS are bad for you. Most people may just get a ceasar salad, right? The typical but guess what that dressing does the it. It makes the salad have more calories than a big mac sad.gif

I'm surprised at all of you, usually you're all bantering about how the government are a big bunch of wig heads that stick their noses where they don't belong.

So what if you can't get trans fat while eating out anymore? Its our sedentary life style that gets us fat, not the damn food alone. Besides that, the government are paid off to be imbecils when it comes to nutritionary needs. Sooo don't trust them to make any decisions towards my food. The guy that works in an office, takes the elevator and subway everywhere, can still go to the grocery store, by 5 large pizzas from the store and sit there drinking coke. S t i l l f a t.
This is just as dumb as that person that sued McDonalds for making them fat. dry.gif
More importantly than being a nation of fat asses, we're a nation that can't grow up enough to take responsibility for ourselves.
