To me, the beauty, the artistic value in sports lies in the motion, but you've abandoned that notion, and created something almost stagnant.

Art is supposed to be either thought-provoking, or attractive, or both
There's nothing wrong with vacuousness in a piece, so long as it's good to look at. Similar to a trophy wife tongue.gif

Your backgrounds are good, honestly, but you choose the wrong renders for them.
I appreciate that you're passionate about sports, and those are the renders you want to use... so develop a style that exploits their good points, rather than emphasising their deficiencies.

Work on developing some (and here I'll sink to using that dreaded buzz-word) flow in your pieces. Make it look like they're in motion...
    Make them art.

    Euhm... I can't see a difference wacko.gif
    But no worries happy.gif

I assume, being a sports fan, you've seen some sports-related movies? Try to see if you can copy some of the techniques film makers use on the star actor ... The most obvious point to focus on in a film is just before an important goal/home run/touchdown etc.
You tend to get close-ups on the face, backgrounds go into deep soft focus, maybe with a little zoom effect around the actor... details on the face pop into sharp relief, like sweat droplets, that sort of thing. Try using some edited photo backgrounds, I think it should work a little better.
Text though... I'm not sure... I think it'd either have to be tiny pixel, or you could go big and bold, blocky text. There's no room for middle ground compromising text here tongue.gif
