Well being new here and all I wanted to get to know a little more about the site’s history. I was lucky enough to find this ancient topic that gave a nice overview of where the site came form and what the community has been through. As a new member it was stirring to learn about all of this history. It affirmed to me that I had joined an amazing community with a rich history and a promising future. happy.gif

The only problem is that the topic stops way back in 2005 and leaves a large gap of time between then and now unaccounted for.

So for the benefit of the newer members of codex(myself included tongue.gif ) I wanted to ask some veterans about what they remember about the site’s history form 2005 onwards in addition to any other insights they may have on codex’s beginnings.

Well, there was that time when there was a conspiracy against Neocodex. Off-topic: Weird, I was just reading that topic. Scary.

Of course none of that information mentions me. It never does.

Guess I should give up on getting any credit?

Well, there was that time you did the thing, and that one other thing which did all this other stuff, and there was also the instance in which you did some shit which did something else.

    ...Yeah, terribly sorry.

I know you've been a member for a loooooong time, but what exactly have you done?
    I'd love to hear happy.gif

    I've done my fair share.

But most of the shit was behind the scenes.

    Awesome.

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember sockopen saying something like "Thank you Cataliste for all your hard work" or something to that effect whenever some new mod was announced. Makes sense now tongue.gif

That would been the time we got DoSed and sockopen and I put together a .htaccess file keeping it form happening again. The when Hydrogen and SL announced it, everyone thanked them, but not one person thanked us. So we got into the habit of thanking people who didn't do something too.

We also told them how to stop the current DoS. And we helped orchestrate board changes that wouls help secure the site.

That's just one time that involved me.

Anyway, in terms of history, there might be something new we will release that takes care of this for you guys wink.gif tongue.gif.
