The Neocodex Administration is glad to announce to you all that we have decided to upgrade our hosting package to semi-dedicated! Neocodex receives at least 300 unique members each day posting on its forums along with hundreds more guests. The sheer amount of users Neocodex serves is so high that our shared hosting solution can no longer handle our growth and size. This news post is to inform you that this process should be seamless for you all and there should be little to no downtime on our part while the host moves all of our files onto a new server which only a few other websites will be on. However, we are just letting you know incase there is some downtime so that you all know what is going on.

With this new move to semi-dedicated hosting, Neocodex will see faster speeds on its forums and a goodbye to all of those pesky server busy errors. Since the server we will be on only hosts a few other sites, we will be able to more efficiently use the servers resources for our ends.

The new semi-dedicated server, albeit a little costly, will greatly help us handle our growth in recent days and is promising for Neocodex's future.

The Neocodex Administration wants to thank you all for your patience during those server busy errors and also for your support througout our history. We are sure that this new development is just the beginning to a new age to come for Neocodex!

Everything will be staying constant and we wont be getting any new ads. If we do get some new ads, they will be in non-intrusive places where you wont be bothered too much by them tongue.gif.

The Admins had a discussion over the past day and a half taking into consideration our finances and all that good stuff. We should be good for a while based on average income per month and what we already have smile.gif.

Good to know Codex is growing so well without getting into financial difficulty. Hopefully the improved service will attract new members so that the good pace we are on can continue. happy.gif

That's very nice to hear. You can be expecting more donations from me in the near future.

Go NeoCodex!

Lol...
That conclusion can compete for one of the corniest things you've ever said, but alas.
A development known to come sooner or later. biggrin.gif

Backups have been made, so the worst case scenario is that we lost 19 hours of Neocodex activity. tongue.gif

That's the beauty of it... surprisingly, no one. tongue.gif We evaluated our current revenue and semi-dedicated has recently become an achievable purchase for us. We will only be sharing the server with 3 other users, compared to sharing with 956 users like we're doing right now.

That sounds awesome =] Glad to see that activity has caused such a dramatic increase. If I can find any prepaid credit cards around the house I'll shove a couple bucks in donations =P

Google ads pays well on a site like this. Instead of a pay per click, I'm assuming Hydro does something where codex gets paid per 1k views of an ad. Which... think about it. With the amount of people on this site posting randomly and refreshing we see A LOT of ads. Ignore them, but they still load. Which means money for the site biggrin.gif

Yeah, we're just calibrating our monitor to see how much the server will handle. I cranked the limit up a bit, so please let me know if you see any more. tongue.gif

Yeah lookaround.gif ... Hopefully it wont be that way again tongue.gif. We had some miscommunication and things went all bad from there tongue.gif. Good thing is that we can host many projects on the server now devil.gif

Unfortunately, those ads are still pay per click tongue.gif. There are some ads on codex which aren't though tongue.gif. Per view ads would be cool tongue.gif. Maybe we can get some of those too once I find another non-intrusive area on the board tongue.gif.
