Well...
I have a crappy ass problem with my computer...
While I was playing dota, it all of a sudden just froze up and then after like 10 min, it shut off on its own. When I went to turn it on, it'd turn on for a second and shutoff. I'm guessing its a power supply issue, because that would keep happening until I switched off the I/O switch on the back of the computer and switched it back on, until it'd freeze up again, and the same problem would come up.
To sum it all up.
-My comp freezes then shuts off.
-After it shuts off, I can't turn it back on, because it goes on for a sec and shuts off...
-It'll start working again for a bit when I switch the I/O switch on the back of the comp on and off real quick...
-I hate it.
Also, it freezes only when I am pushing my computer, ie Dota, and once just randomly on FireFox.

Any help appreciated. smile.gif

it sounds like a psu issue. do you have any way of testing it? also, could you please post your specs and psu manufacturer and type

I'm pretty sure its the PSU too, but there's no way of knowing is there?
I'll post up my specs in a sec.
If it is a psu problem, how would I fix it?

You replce the psu with another one. The only real way to test it is to take it out and use a spare psu to see if thats the issue..

    Dota pushes your comp?

Time for an upgrade, I'd say..

Yeah, I was gonna say.. Dota shouldn't be pushing your PC, maybe if it is turn the settings down a little.

it probably isn't pushing it as much as it is making the computer more susceptible to power fluctuations from a bad/weak psu.

Shut up whoever says Dota doesn't push your computer tongue.gif. I get 15 fps tongue.gif

As Krn said, only way to really check is to try a new psu. Do you overclock?

As a self proclaimed computer guru, it sounds more like a heat problem with your processor. I would give your computer a thorough cleaning and maybe upgrade your fan. Power supplies won't do that to you.

    Really?
    Hmm...
That could be a problem, it is pretty damn dusty in there, and by pretty damn dusty, I mean it's alive. blink.gif
    I'll try that.

Good luck with fixing it, I heard from my friend that fixing the power supply problem is usually not so easy. sad.gif
