News Update - May 16, 2007

First, a random bit of trivia: Neocodex is currently 1212 days (3 years, 117 days) old. We've certainly gone a long ways, haven't we?

CodexWiki:
Many of you are starting to get a hang of the CodexWiki system. Awesome job. tongue.gif I realize there are many bugs, so Laser Wave and I will try and get to them as soon as we can.

Member Survey:
In order to improve the daily lifestyle of members on the board and to prioritize the stuff the members want to see, the staff has been holding a survey that you may fill out (if you wish). For more information, please click here: http://www.neocodex....vey-t68806.html

Downloads Restructuring:

Reorganizing/reevaluating the programs in the downloads system continues to be one of the highest priorities. Unfortunately, we're still in the process of creating a bug control system for the programs and therefore will be unable to sift through the programs until the bug reporting system is established into the downloads area, which may occur sometime in June. At the moment, program authors are patching their programs in light of the new Neopets layout change, so please be patient while this transition is occurring. Thanks!

Activity Levels:
I'm sure some of you can't help but notice that lately, the activity level on the forum's been a bit low. Right now, the administration is investigating why this is happening and hopefully we will eventually develop a short-term strategy to deal with the declining activity.

We have a few ideas of our own, such as: "the topics have been declining in quality", "the topics are boring", "we've been focusing on the wrong areas of the board", "the morale is dropping/low board pride", "not enough to do", etc... but we would like to hear it from you! smile.gif One thing we wouldn't mind for sure is a personal message explaining the reasons why you think the board is currently inactive (and you can include any suggestions you have with your PM). wink.gif

Please don't hesitate to send a personal message. I'll try not to miss them and I'll do my best to get a reply to every one of you. tongue.gif You can even post your suggestions in this very topic and I'll probably see them. wink.gif

Regular News Posts:
We believe that in order to ensure that Neocodex members are not left in the dark and forced to live dreary lives on the board, regular news posts and announcements are extremely important, and lately we've been neglecting this. I apologize for the lack of news coming from the staff lately, and hopefully we can improve our ways very soon so we can keep you all informed of current developments. There's always something to talk about! tongue.gif

Personal Messages vs. MSN Instant Messages
Yes, I know some of you hate sending me a PM. I'm going to try coming on MSN a bit more often from now on, so you can add my MSN at [email protected] (not neocodex.us, I still have the old-school address tongue.gif) if you want to chat about whatever. This site is pretty much one huge collaborative project that you are all a part of, so I'm open to ideas. We just need to get them into action. tongue.gif

I'm just going to pop in to let you know I DID read this... just didn't really have anything to say here that I didn't say elsewhere on the board...wink.gif

I was thinking about making a post along the same lines. I did read this. blink.gif

Right, I'm with Max on this one. Around exams, everyone is a little less active. Or, at the very least, the older members are inactive and by proxy, everyone else is.

Or, I'm just crazy. Whatever.
