if you're talking about cranberries it won't show up in caps but if it's the filter it shows up CRANBERRIES so you can tell. And with bark, well context tells you whether a person is saying the noise a dog makes, the outside of a tree, or if it's a filtered swear word.

again though... what if you're like me and really like cranberries? 'cuz if i'm talking about cranberries, i'm like CRANBERRIES!!! biggrin.gif:D:D:D:D

but i do think it's funny. or at least a funny word. something that's actually *not* used. like "sploot" or "blat"

oh blat, i just splooted all over myself sad.gif

What you define as offensive, vulgar, obscene, explicit, (and so on) depends on what your morals are like, what kind of language you use, what your basic everyday convos are about aswell as the content of them.

I myself would use a filter. I dont enjoy looking at words that I deem offensive, but I dont hate people that use them =] I just dont approve of the choice of words they use, because I talk how I feel is right, and thats all that matters to me thumbsup.gif

The swear filters have come and gone many many times on this forum, which means that we see it as a recurring problem on the board. I like for the filters to stay, because it makes the board look cleaner, promotes good grammar, and because none of us want to see a bunch of people going "CENSORED this, CENSORED that" for the sake of looking cool (probably only applicable to a few people, but still exists).

Any intelligent discussion can do without severe swears (the liberal ones like "shit", etc.. are still there, so it's not like you're being deprived of everything.. life will go on tongue.gif). I have a problem with the racial swears as well, because they serve no other purpose than to bring the other person down, or promote discrimination. The site can do without both these elements. wink.gif
    -----------
I realize that a LOT of swear bypassing is going on in this thread, and I just warned someone partly for bypassing the swear filter to say something derogatory to someone, so please slow down on the swear bypassing. The staff is currently discussing a rule for this sort of thing that defines swear bypassing exactly.
