RAPPER 50 Cent has suffered an embarrassing blow at the BET awards, when he was caught lip synching live on stage, watched by millions of people.

Entertainment site MediaTakeOut.com report that 50 Cent was caught out from the beginning of his performance, after being ceremoniously lowered onto stage on a podium.

The "What Up Gangsta" rapper clearly lip synched the initial chorus to the hit song "Amusement Park."

After the chorus ended, he tried to continue mouthing the songs lyrics. But unfortunately for 50, DJ Whoo Kidd played the instrumental version.

Oops!

See the video here.

One person who worked the event told MediaTakeOut.com, "The whole thing was so embarrassing. To get caught like that in front of millions of people is almost unimaginable."

After this first embarrassment, the cringe-worthy performer increased the situation by walking around the stage seemingly aimlessly - all the while waiting for the song to re-cue.

G-Unit member Tony Yayo decided the best way to help the sinking song was to scream expletives into the microphone.

Witnesses said that when the record did eventually re-cue, 50 did all that he could to salvage his performance, but it was far too late at that point.

By then 50 appeared so shaken with embarrassment, that he cut things short.

Bizarrely, 50 finished the shortened set with the words, "Vitamin Water." An apparent reference to a new business venture worth about $US100M.

After the event, MediaTakeOut.com spoke to witnesses.

One audience member told the site "No one in the audience really knew what was going on. It just seemed like (50 Cent) cut the performance short ... But now that I know he was lip syncing, I think it's hilarious."

Things like this really dissapoint me, I mean he's getting the money, he should at least sing live/ know when he doesn't have to sing.

But if you try and cheat people you'll get caught eventually.

shit happens, i can imagine it being extremely difficult to have to constantly perform and it's really understandable that he may have strained/damaged his voice. if something does come up it's a tough situation - he can cancel the show and disappoint fans or lip sync and risk fan disappointment.

Yeah well it's not like he'd have the memory to be able to remember all those delightful* songs.

*yawns* her excuse was shitty tongue.gif Okay... my sister can sing really well and both of us have a stomach condition much worse than GERD and my sister has the condition much worse than I do to the point where her esophagus has started to melt away and her body is developing stomach lining in those areas to protect. Yet she still has a strong voice and says it was total BS. I mean year acid reflux really sucks, I know but c'mon...

But you know Simon Cowell made a good point after the Ashlee incident. Why sing the live version when you know that the recorded one is much much better? If you know you can't sing live well you must do that and we've developed a bit of a witchhunt of it. Though I think it's good to know what you're getting. For example if you go to a Brittany Spears concert you know that you will get dancing and lip sincing and it would be basically the same thing that you hear on the radios. However if you went to an Aretha Franklin concert or Amy Winehouse concert you will be getting something quite different. Both have a tendency to vary their songs quite a great deal for their concerts as an extra treat and to have fun with their music. Plus people have said these people sound better live than they do recorded sometimes. I mean you just should automatically know what you're getting. If the voice on the radio sounds a bit synthed then she's probably going to lip sing, but you know... if you can tell there's some power behind the voice they will not. There's really no need to really bash someone for doing either as you, the customer should know what you are getting tongue.gif

*cough* sorry. In a bit of a talky mood.

For the sheer majority of cases this is entirely right. I don't know of very many *good* rappers. Mostly they sound exactly the same, same lyrics, same background music, same video.

I feel the same thing, rap is not original anymore. They dress the same, act the same, talk about bitches and whores.

laugh.gif He got owned. Amazing how it doesn't surprise me though.

It kind of surprised me, but he definately got owned. I wouldn't think someone like 50 Cent would lip-sync one of their songs on a channel like BET, on top of that, it was at the awards show. The awards show that is watched by millions of people every year. It probably won't affect his sales in music that much, but I'm sure he's pretty embarrassed. I believe his publicist will send a message out about why he had to lip-sync that night.

haha, I dont think I have ever heard of a rapper being caught lip syncing before. Its not like they even have to have a god voice so what is the point lol? Its just lazyness in my opinion.

Go on then. Let's see you do a better job then fiddy cent.

You probably can't, because unlike playing a guitar or drums, rap usually involves skill.

I'm pretty sure playing a guitar or the drums requires a lot of skill too....if not more. Rapping requires quick thinking (freestyling) and a good sense of rhythm.

I for one could not rap if my life depended on it so I doubt that its possible for "anyone" to do it

It's like any quality, all it does it takes time and practice.

How many books, DVDs, Programs, schools etc on how to play the guitar or drums? Fricking loads, now compare that to the same offering advice on rap. Quite low, so therefore it would make more sense in a therothically seen way that learning o play the guitars or drums is alot easier then rapping.

You can't be serious? Not all rap has an artist speaking fast to beats. If you take time to listen to the lyrics, you'll be surprised by what an artist has to share.
