Come on people, getting high a few times in your lifetime probably isn't as bad as eating fast food for a day. So hush.

    I doubt that.

I'm very much a "walk on the beach, look at the sunset, ooh pretty mountains" kinda person. I've experienced times very similar to what you described, except in a completely sober state, usually in the evenings on a drive. I'm not sure if it was the same state of mind achieved under different circumstances, or an entirely different thing, but I found the lights of a city really awing, a realization of all the life out there. Just ideas like that came in to my mind.

yes it's absolutely possible to achieve that sense of feeling of awe when your sober

okay i read cody's rant and i sounded kind of mean so i deleted those parts i agree with him at the end

smoking once if you can get past the nasty disgusting taste of the first part and then you experience the oblivion I GUESS... wouldn't be so bad of an experience... but i still think it can have a potential to destroy your life

as for drinking... i don't think most people get high after getting drunk... i'm pretty sure they get sluggish... and addiction to drinking is more of mental type rather than a need for a chemical type so that's probably why it gets that much less of a bad reaction to

i've never smoked and i'm never gonna smoke... but your life you can do whatever you want with it

alright... smoking ANYTHING is going to cause lung damage, the legality of the herb being smoked is irrelevant to the damage caused to your lungs. Not to mention, there are numerous ways to help reduce the risks associated with smoking. Smoking through a cold water filter device such as a bong is an excellent way to help filter out toxins as THC is not water soluble, especially not in cold water. Another excellent method is to smoke very very potent cannabis, as you smoke less plant material for the same effects, thus causing less damage to your lungs. On another note, although I am lacking a citation for this notation, I do believe simply living in a major city like San Francisco that is infested with smog is also horrible for your lungs.

    Secondly,

    I thought you weren't a moderator.... rolleyes.gif

    Thirdly,
Smoking cannabis isn't going to turn you into a bumbling idiot overnight. Granted, people who do smoke daily may seem like idiots, but that can not be attributed solely to the smoking of cannabis. There is a distinct possibility that idiots are more apt to smoke and partake in that lifestyle than those more educated (Possibly for fear of legal action.)

    Fourthly,
It is not any of your place to tell Alex what he can and can not ingest and do in his spare time. He had an interesting experience and wanted to share. I don't think he would've gotten the same reaction had he said he drank a few beers and experienced the same. I feel there is some serious moral snobbery going around, and that everyone should reexamine their own lifestyle choices and what they ingest before they condemn others for their choices.

    Fifthly,
Yeah alex... I feel you... I've experienced things like that before... but you have to realize that the building is always like that... you've just always been too far in your previous mindset to notice how beautiful the earth really is without all the human alterations. Take your time and relax, and I promise you can achieve the same things in a sober mindset.

    Lastly,
    PLUR. (Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.)

    Cody

Agreed, cut him some slack =P

    Here is my opinion:

Marijuana, if used in moderation, isn't very bad for you. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not encouraging any body to go out and smoke weed for your first time, especially if you aren't even in High School. I'm going to tell you straight, if you smoke weed everyday, you WILL lose brain cells, and you won't be as smart.

This is coming from somebody who smoked 2-3 times a day for months. I found myself not being able to remember anything, being an asshole while I wasn't high, and feeling like shit when I was. It was not a good feeling. But honestly, that only happened because of how much I was doing it.

If you are to only smoke once, or maybe twice a month, and you have a plan to do something/go somewhere, your high will be fantastic. It is truly a good feeling when you are out doing something with people you like under the influence. In no way am I saying I can't do that without out, but every once in a while it's not to bad.

Though, it isn't good for your lungs, but like I said, in moderation, your lungs won't suffer to much.

Alex, your story sounds like an average stoned moment. Sounds like a great feeling, and you were in the right situation to be high.. and not doing something else illegal/stupid. How much did you smoke? Was it a lot, or just a little?

Disclaimer: Don't smoke. Codex takes no responsibility for anything you go out and do. Oh yeah:
    DON'T SMOKE.

I've only smoked two or three times, and I didn't really notice anything like that at all.
The first time I smoked, I was at a fair and went on this one ride that swings you around really fast in circles, and I could focus only on the things in front of me, when it usually would have been a blur from moving so fast. It almost felt like my head was going to explode. tongue.gif

The British studies theyve found are just propoganda for Gordon Brown to reschedule marijuana. I'm serious. He says hes gonna reschedule it and suddenly a bunch of studies are made that dont really show anything that isnt known but are biased enough so the sheep will justify it and itll be rescheduled (even though its fine where it is atm.) Yes, pot hurts the lungs (Though not nearly as much as tobacco). But the argument is not about health. The argument is you own your body, and you should have the right to do as you wish with it provided you can take the responsibiity and dont hurt others. As for mellow highs, pot is not a mellow high you get from nature, reading a book, etcetera. It slows you down and if you have strong enough weed it is a pretty good drug. I prefer psychedelics, but I smoke enough to understand that it isnt a drug for everyone, just the people who have naturally high adrenaline and are always in the fast mode. It lets you sit back and enjoy life a lot better if you have difficulty getting such a thing from simple reading or nature, its fun.

weed is not needed, You see its quite easy to be happy, just listen to good music, like regular rock or reggae.
you can enjoy sunsets and moutain veiws with a friend. Or even better buy glasses so the colors appear correctly on your retinas instead of getting dead ass stoned.

Weed is not a mellow high by any means. A mellow high can be caused by various factors, but not pot. The high you get from pot is relaxing, but you're far more relaxed.

    tongue.gif Just kidding.
It doesn't DO damage, except a TINY bit to your lungs...
    xD Weed isn't addictive, bud.
Alex, I've noticed that kind of shit too... Check your PMs.

Alright, once again, I'm all for weed, but I don't like when people don't know that much about the drug..

By short term, they mean you lose your short term memory, not you lose your memory for a short term. Although it's not permanent damage, the only way of getting your short term memory back is quiting for good.

It does a lot of damage to the lungs, not just little. Worst then cigarettes. Only reason why most people say it isn't worst then cigarettes is because no ones going to smoke 20 joints in a day, compared to cigs.

It isn't addictive physically, but then again, I'm pretty sure I read that coke wasn't physically addictive either. But it sure can be mentally addictive, for sure it's easier to stop then coke, but personally, sometimes I wonder if I like the buzz a little too much.

if you take in any sort of smoke it will damage your lungs to an extent, the major contributor in cigarettes is the tar wherein the bud of marijuana tar it is absent.

I beg to differ. I know for a fact that there is withdrawal symptoms. I personally experienced a few. I didn't know the reason of these things until I thought back at it:

    1. Hunger. Weed was my new appetite, IT was what made me hungry, so my body's natural 'hunger maker' went away. I could eat more than a little bit for atleast 4 days after quitting.
    2. Attitude. After using it for a long period of time, you no longer are in the relaxed mood, and you act sort of like an asshole.
    3. Weed cravings. Had em for atleast 2 weeks after I quit.

It IS physcially addictive, but it's not so bad that you can't go without it, but your body does get attached.

A friend I had that smoked for like years daily, when he quit he was sick for a week or so. After that he was fine though.

Living in an industrialized city is much worse than smoking weed, even if you smoke it weekly. (Daily is probably worse).

It doesn't get addicting if you do it a few times a month, just do it to get relaxed, don't depend your life on it.
