Yeah we might not be able to but since Pykey's seen it I don't know. Maybe it's more about the SALE of drugs or hell I don't know xD
Anyways Trixx saying that weed isn't addictive or only does a little damage to the lungs is BS. There is both anti-drug and pro-drug propaganda. Saying weed isn't addictive or harmful is following that. Anything can be addictive. And weed especially is no exception. Sure it might not be as addictive as some prescription pain meds but it doesn't mean you won't get addicted to it. Also there may not be a physical addition but you can get addicted to the feeling that Alex described so it's very easy to do.
Also there was a study recently that showed that smoking weed DOES indeed harm the lungs.
http://news.bbc.co.u...mes/6922379.stmRead this study. You'll see it's actually almost biased for the marijuana smokers and still comes out showing harmful results :\
It doesn't do damage to your lungs, much, if you don't do it too often... By addictive, I meant you can't get the "I'm addicted, I can't "not turn down" weed" addiction... like, if you don't feel like it, then you can say "nah, I'm good". But with other things, you MUST get it, if you're addicted... There's a difference between "addiction" and "choosing to do it".
I promote use of vaporizers for when people feel the urge to smoke stuff... VERY clean on the lungs, and you need less weed to get high. ANY smoke will do damage to your lungs, but weed isn't all that bad. I agree, my "little damage to the lungs" comment as being biased, but compare the yearly damage on cigarette users lungs, and the yearly damage on cannabis users lungs, and I'm sure the damage is less. Not saying weed is damage free, but when you compare it to other things people do, it's not the devil's little helper.
QUOTE(Cody @ Aug 29 2007, 05:18 PM)

alright... smoking ANYTHING is going to cause lung damage, the legality of the herb being smoked is irrelevant to the damage caused to your lungs. Not to mention, there are numerous ways to help reduce the risks associated with smoking. Smoking through a cold water filter device such as a bong is an excellent way to help filter out toxins as THC is not water soluble, especially not in cold water. Another excellent method is to smoke very very potent cannabis, as you smoke less plant material for the same effects, thus causing less damage to your lungs. On another note, although I am lacking a citation for this notation, I do believe simply living in a major city like San Francisco that is infested with smog is also horrible for your lungs.
Secondly,
I thought you weren't a moderator....

Thirdly,
Smoking cannabis isn't going to turn you into a bumbling idiot overnight. Granted, people who do smoke daily may seem like idiots, but that can not be attributed solely to the smoking of cannabis. There is a distinct possibility that idiots are more apt to smoke and partake in that lifestyle than those more educated (Possibly for fear of legal action.)
Fourthly,
It is not any of your place to tell Alex what he can and can not ingest and do in his spare time. He had an interesting experience and wanted to share. I don't think he would've gotten the same reaction had he said he drank a few beers and experienced the same. I feel there is some serious moral snobbery going around, and that everyone should reexamine their own lifestyle choices and what they ingest before they condemn others for their choices.
Fifthly,
Yeah alex... I feel you... I've experienced things like that before... but you have to realize that the building is always like that... you've just always been too far in your previous mindset to notice how beautiful the earth really is without all the human alterations. Take your time and relax, and I promise you can achieve the same things in a sober mindset.
Lastly,
PLUR. (Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.)
Cody
Thank you >_< Noone will listen to me

QUOTE(spottedtiger @ Aug 29 2007, 05:49 PM)

yes it's absolutely possible to achieve that sense of feeling of awe when your sober
simple errors judgment done frequently will eventually lead to disaster, you may not notice it until it's too late...
edit:
okay i read cody's rant and i sounded kind of mean so i deleted those parts i agree with him at the end
smoking once if you can get past the nasty disgusting taste of the first part and then you experience the oblivion I GUESS... wouldn't be so bad of an experience... but i still think it can have a potential to destroy your life
as for drinking... i don't think most people get high after getting drunk... i'm pretty sure they get sluggish... and addiction to drinking is more of mental type rather than a need for a chemical type so that's probably why it gets that much less of a bad reaction to
i've never smoked and i'm never gonna smoke... but your life you can do whatever you want with it
I think weed won't destroy your life. I guess there's the odd case, like with everything... But I don't see it doing any major damage to anyone ;o
QUOTE(philywilly @ Aug 29 2007, 10:35 PM)

Alright, once again, I'm all for weed, but I don't like when people don't know that much about the drug..
By short term, they mean you lose your short term memory, not you lose your memory for a short term. Although it's not permanent damage, the only way of getting your short term memory back is quiting for good.
It does a lot of damage to the lungs, not just little. Worst then cigarettes. Only reason why most people say it isn't worst then cigarettes is because no ones going to smoke 20 joints in a day, compared to cigs.
Um... you get your short term memory back soon, actually...
QUOTE(nox @ Aug 29 2007, 10:41 PM)

if you take in any sort of smoke it will damage your lungs to an extent, the major contributor in cigarettes is the tar wherein the bud of marijuana tar it is absent.
Yeh... there's SOME tar in bud, isn't there?
I THOUGHT, don't quote me on it though, that there was tar in weed leaves, but you don't even smoke the leaf... except what's mixed with your bud...
QUOTE(Frizzle @ Aug 30 2007, 07:35 AM)

Alex, I suggest you ignore SL's double standards seeing as he will invisi/delete posts refering to weed, but yet let this topic, and Brandon/Pyke's topic about weed stay open.
Don't you love double standards?
QUOTE(Athean @ Aug 30 2007, 11:31 AM)

It does NOT do worse damage than cigarettes. Yes, there are more carcinogens, but THC seems to either delay or destroy the aging cells which can cause cancer. But unlike a cigarette, marijuana will get you high in a few hits if you have good enough weed, and you wont inhale nearly as much smoke. One of the smartest cookies when it comes to this subject is WarezHaxor, and he'll tell you that you get tar in your lungs if you smoke joints, not if you're smoking a pipe/water pipe. Yes, marijuana is overrated in my opinion, but just because he had a fun time doesn't mean you need bicker about it. For some people, getting high is boring and for others it makes them feel great. It's not a drug for everyone, thats for sure.
I read somewhere that thc surrounded cancer cells or something, to slow growth? Or that was what it was compared to.
Vaporizers are better than bongs, anyways.

Alex, check your PM's.
