You never know.
But, if you are playing legit, and they ban you, that is a whole different story.
If you are using a proxy then you will probably get banned sooner or later.

Also, if they want to...they will just range ban you. They threatened to ban my entire college's ip range if I didn't quit :-P

Was that before or after the legal letter?

During...this was them telling our school's technology director that they'd ban everyone if they didn't make me quit playing...apparently there were others on neopets at my school...kinda funny.

Wow, way different range...your isp is crazy :-P.
They'd never be able to ban you.
only downside is that they may freeze your accounts assuming people from multiple places are using it.
I was an extremely active member of a couple formerly well-known cheat sites. We put a notice on the noticeboard for 4 million np directing people to the site and also caused black pawkeet slots to be re-coded because we found a glitch.
Anyways, they got sick of freezing my accounts and decided to threaten legal action. I'm one of the very few non-programmers I've seen threatened.
It was something of an unhealthy obsession though. I mean, when autobuying was more fun...I'd have 37 accounts through which I'd cycle each time I got restock banned. I had a pretty sick connection (t1) at my disposal as well so no one came near touching me. I was finally banned with a super attack pea, faerie slingshot and about 200 mil worth of other items...I put all that together in under 2 months.

You are better off sticking with a proxy then.
Wow.

Some universities would probably use internal DHCP so that many people would have the same external ip so if one got banned, all would. My school was very small and we had an entire class C to ourselves so we were each given different external IPs everytime our leases expired.
Pretty sweet. Even though they said they didn't, I'm quite confident they banned the whole school's range.

Those were the good days.

I don't think it'll ever be as fun as it was....I still can't believe I wasn't frozen for autobuying, but for multi-accounting.
My main mistake was that I used different proxies for my safe accounts so they were frozen for "scamming" because it looked like they were being accessed from different places.

So then Tor isn't safe?
Is there any freeware program that won't switch proxies randomly?
