Basically, I think I eat a rather lot of crap. So I want to cut back, eat less, and eat more healthy smile.gif.

Can anyone basically give me any advice on things I could try or even recipes to some good healthy meals <3

Thanks happy.gif.

    I tried healthy recipes but I absolutely fail at cooking. If you want the recipes, get Men's Health magazine (which is plain awesome anyway) or check out their website. I start the day with 2 raw eggs and try to get in as much fruit as I can. Grapefruit is awesome, but apparently the acid isn't good for braces <_> Just find a fruit you like and get force your mum to buy loads of it. tongue.gif

    Err, also keep a 2l bottle of water with you through the day. Try and finish it by the end of the day, you'll be pissing so much but your bladder will expand after a while and so it'll become more bearable.

    I still need to cut down on junk stuff myself but that should help you.

    In the UK, most eggs have a Lion mark on them which means the chickens have been vaccinated salmonella. Check the regulations in your country for similar codes of practice, other wise it probably isn't wise to eat them raw.
    If you wanna cook them, here's some good recipes:

    Come to my house for a week... err... I mean, just get mummy to buy healthy food so you are forced to eat it? (Or starve.)

    Eh -shrugs-. I went on my own diet. I'd eat a chocolate bar every week, some ice cream every other week, and junk food once a day. I would eat the meals put out in front of me, and if I couldn't finish the meal, I'd refrigerate it and come back later. The only noteworthy thing was that I would exercise for about ten minutes each day. Lost ten pounds in three weeks, haha.

    Just force yourself to graze ^-^ If you eat a little and wait for it to digest, you won't want to eat as much as normal.

    Just have your mom or whoever shops cut down on buying chips, ice cream, Cheeze-Its (My personal favorite), or any other junk food. If it isn't in the house you cannot eat it. It is that simple smile.gif

    You don't need to cut back on food (unless you're eating like 8000 calories), you just need to cut back from the unclean foods. Eat six times a day and avoid caloric drinks. Make sure you get at least half your bodyweight in protein and at least 150 grams of carbohydrates everday, and make sure the carbs you get in the morning are complex carbs, because the simple ones are suicide. Limit fat to about 20% of the diet, but make sure you get fish oil and flax seed oil at the very least. If you want to eat meat, eat lean meats, preferably boneless and skinless. Turkey, Chicken, and poached salmon would be great foods to work with. If you must have caffeine, drink it black or have tea instead. Sodium shouldnt pose as a problem, but avoid flavoring your foods excessively. If you absolutely must cheat, have whatever you want under 500 calories for a meal every 3 to 5 days just to keep sane.

    If you need ANY help, I'm not a registered dietician, but I can definitely help you with these issues.

    eh? blink.gif

    that's a hell of a lot of protein....I forget the correct/ideal ratio but I think it's like a gram of protein for every kilogram of your weight or something.

    Best way in my opinion is to calorie count. Simple as that. If you calorie count you know exactly when you have eaten too much crap because you will go over your limit of roughly 2500 a day. Then all you have to do is eat things that don't take you over your limit before the end of the day....which are usally the things that are NOT bad for you.

    Makea list of the things that are good for you that you actually like and mix and match the list all the time to avoid getting bored with the food you eat. For example make a list of meats, vegetables....fruit etc and maybe make a plan for the next week of what you ideally want to eat and try and stick to it. Then mix them up again for the next week but don't forget to keep track of the calorie intake.

    Also remember that just because you are eating things that are healthy for you does not mean you can eat lot's of it, which is a common mistake I find people make in my line of work.

    Ehhhhhh personally I prefer just keeping myself busy so I don't think about eating. It's odd because I can easily go over 30 hours without eating at all and just eat a very large meal and then go fasting again. It's what early humans had to do tongue.gif Just drink plenty of diet soda or water or whatever else as long as it doesn't have calories. It's what made me lose over 25 pounds in 3 months. Mind you though... this may be easier for me because I have gastroparesis and my stomach does not move. I really cannot tell the difference between hunger and heartburn if that gives you perspective.

    and if you're having trouble not eating unhealthy foods keep yourself occupied - drink a lot of water, chew gum, etc

    * Eat normally and monitor what you eat for a few days.
    Keep a food log or something with Calorie or carb counts or whatever. Keep track of percentages and try not to go over 100% in things like Sodium. A normal Calorie level is 2,000/day I believe.

    * Cut out fast food
    The easiest way to go. Really. Replace fast food with easy to fix, healthier things. Try to find healthy Microwave Dinners, canned goods, etc.

    * Vegan, vegetarians
    If you're willing to give up animal-related products, give it a try. This will include things like eggs, too.

    * Eat frequently
    If you are, by chance, trying to lose weight, eat small meals every 2-3 hours. It will boost your metabolism. Eating only at some combination of breakfast, lunch, and dinner will slow your metabolism down.

    * Get some money, and then...
    Go to the medical aisle of your store to all of those dieting products. They have those delicious looking snack bars that you can use for everday consumption.

    * Don't Diet!
    Just don't. Never go for things that make you cut out healthy things. All parts of the Food Pyramid are valuable to your body except for the very top. Don't give up your grains for those low carb diets. Don't forget about your fruits and vegetables. Meat and dairy are good (unless you're lactose intolerant). Just try to cut back a bit on desserts.

    This thread makes me hungry tongue.gif

    Did some googling tongue.gif

    Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods. You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily food selection should include bread and other whole-grain products; fruits; vegetables; dairy products; and meat, poultry, fish and other protein foods. How much you should eat depends on your calorie needs. Use the Food Guide Pyramid and the Nutrition Facts panel on food labels as handy references.

    Enjoy plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Surveys show most Americans don't eat enough of these foods. Do you eat 6-11 servings from the bread, rice, cereal and pasta group, 3 of which should be whole grains? Do you eat 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables? If you don't enjoy some of these at first, give them another chance. Look through cookbooks for tasty ways to prepare unfamiliar foods.

    Maintain a healthy weight. The weight that's right for you depends on many factors including your sex, height, age and heredity. Excess body fat increases your chances for high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some types of cancer and other illnesses. But being too thin can increase your risk for osteoporosis, menstrual irregularities and other health problems. If you're constantly losing and regaining weight, a registered dietitian can help you develop sensible eating habits for successful weight management. Regular exercise is also important to maintaining a healthy weight.

    Eat moderate portions. If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it's easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. Did you know the recommended serving of cooked meat is 3 ounces, similar in size to a deck of playing cards? A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and a cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings. Refer to the Food Guide Pyramid for information on recommended serving sizes.

    Eat regular meals. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal.

    Reduce, don't eliminate certain foods. Most people eat for pleasure as well as nutrition. If your favorite foods are high in fat, salt or sugar, the key is moderating how much of these foods you eat and how often you eat them.
    Identify major sources of these ingredients in your diet and make changes, if necessary. Adults who eat high-fat meats or whole-milk dairy products at every meal are probably eating too much fat. Use the Nutrition Facts panel on the food label to help balance your choices.

    Choosing skim or low-fat dairy products and lean cuts of meat such as flank steak and beef round can reduce fat intake significantly.

    If you love fried chicken, however, you don't have to give it up. Just eat it less often. When dining out, share it with a friend, ask for a take-home bag or a smaller portion.

    Balance your food choices over time. Not every food has to be "perfect." When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern.

    Know your diet pitfalls. To improve your eating habits, you first have to know what's wrong with them. Write down everything you eat for three days. Then check your list according to the rest of these tips. Do you add a lot of butter, creamy sauces or salad dressings? Rather than eliminating these foods, just cut back your portions. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? If not, you may be missing out on vital nutrients.

    Make changes gradually. Just as there are no "superfoods" or easy answers to a healthy diet, don't expect to totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Changing too much, too fast can get in the way of success. Begin to remedy excesses or deficiencies with modest changes that can add up to positive, lifelong eating habits. For instance, if you don't like the taste of skim milk, try low-fat. Eventually you may find you like skim, too.

    Remember, foods are not good or bad. Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Don't feel guilty if you love foods such as apple pie, potato chips, candy bars or ice cream. Eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health.

    This seems to work fine for me I eat fruits, drink lots of water, eat fish or tuna. I sometimes just have one oreo cookie or a piece of dark chocolate if I'm craving something sweet. If you want some recipes you can check out http://www.videojug.com/ and http://www.bestcookvideos.com/ they have a lot of video recipes. They show you step by step.

    You want to lose weight?

    Fill a one gallon jug with water. Drink nothing but that jug everyday. If you're hungry, and it's not 'meal time' just drink some water.

    Just focus on eating small amounts often, my biggest problem was I didn't know the 'serving size'. If you must eat junk food, either eat the serving size or split it in half.

    This is just assuming you want to drop a couple of pounds =P

    starving yourself won't drop fat for many ways, not to even mention that it's damaging to your body.
