QUOTE
The grieving father of a dead US soldier has won nearly $11 million (£5.2 million) in damages against a fundamentalist church that disrupts military funerals in the belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for America’s tolerance of homosexuality.

Omfg? I'm not even American, and that's really pissed me off. And that's why I hate the church.

Yeah...I've heard of those nutjobs before. It's the Westboro church, or at least a clone of that church. That's the absolute -darkest- side of Christianity, AKA, KKKristianity. They're the ones that refused to bury a gay soldier once they learned he was gay. Luckily, a bunch of bikers rode up with American flags to keep those barking assholes from disrupting a funeral for a gay soldier (I don't know if it was the same one).

Intolerance is one thing...but seriously... dry.gif I think God needs to step in and take the megaphone from these guys...'cause that's a really negative image.

EDIT: Yup, said right there that it's the Westboro church. Doesn't surprise me...they're the most intolerant people when it comes down to homosexuality, and as far as kindness goes, they have none. They don't once think of the negative effect of going to a funeral and slandering the dead person; they don't once think of the effect this has on the family members and loved ones.

What -really- sickens me is that they somehow ended up in -Maryland-. That's not good at all. I don't like the thought of them being -anywhere- near my hometown; there's a few gays there that are really nice and -very- skittish, and I would die if they were publicly humiliated like that.

And just think; those sick barkers are getting money from all of -us- because they're a church!

You would have to be a moron to believe the war has even a tiny little thing to do with homosexuality. Everybody should tolerate homosexuals, even if it is a disgusting image to them. Being tolerant to homosexuals is a thing everybody should do, because if otherwise, you would be considered prejudice. And nobody should want to be prejudice. As explained by an episode in South Park, you should tolerate homosexuality, but you don't have to agree with it and you don't have to like it, but you should put up with it. It's sickening and repulsive to think that hundreds of people are being killed and tortured just because a bunch of guys want to bark other guys in the ass. God doesn't hate gay people. God created them. God made them that way. And as a result, god accepts them. God loves them because god loves everybody ...or is that jesus ...I don't know, but whatever. I'm religious in a completely abnormal way, but I know about other religions very well. It's just so sickening. Sorry if I exaggerated a bit.

This shit again? This has to be the fifth topic about the WBC I've seen on Codex. If they really do end up having to pay that fine they'll have to start whoring their disgusting daughters out to the general public so they can afford their signs.

They got it handed to. If the property owner of the funeral home didnt approve of the protesters and they werent welcome there, then the dumbasses deserve it. If the owner gives an OK, on the other hand, I'd rethink the decision.

Seriously, if someone I knew died in Iraq, and any shit like this happened, I would not be upset if I "accidentally" hit the gas instead of the brake into a crowd of protesters... I might even pop it into reverse and go back over anyone who fell.

No matter how they died, any protests at a funeral should be banned by law. Even if the person is the nastiest person around, killed hundreds of people, just don't protest at the funeral. Do it elsewhere but not there.

I know they have to be a certain distance away nowadays...

    There are bad Christians.
    There are bad Muslims.
    There are bad white people.
    There are bad black people.
    Etc. Etc. Etc.

Anyone who seriously says "this is why I'm not a Christian" or "this is why religions is bad" is an absolutely ignorant piece of crap in my book.

That being said, I'm just as disgusted (probably more so) at their actions as you guys. What a disappointment.

Because 90% of most religions actually DO teach intolerance? And the Catholic Church (waaaaay back in the old days) never told people "fighting for a war in the name of God gets you a ticket to Heaven"?

Anyone who believes their religion is tolerant needs to read the "good" book, because it probably isn't. In fact, doesn't it say something about women should be "obedient" towards the man who "owns" them? You don't still view women as property do you?

To stay on topic: It's about barking time. Jesus hell. These are some of the most corrupt, ass backwards Christians around today.
