Well another forum i'm on does this and i kinda like it. one of their members set up a shoutcast server and members can broadcast their own radio playlists. they got timeslots and such and then theres the free times when anyone could connect if nobody else is on. i'm surprised we dont have this already, kind of the natural extension of the "what you're listening to" thread

c'mon, wheres Codex Radio?

It's against copyright laws to broadcast songs without permission from the copyright holder/paying royalties I believe. 1we8.gif

It's an interesting idea...I believe SL did something like this in the past too. His was on Mario music though...You wouldn't believe how much Mario music that guy has...it's kind of gross. I believe other neopets communities have done this as well. It's an interesting idea. Is that true though that you cant even broadcast the music? That's really...stupid.

I want someone to read out the latest news and put it in a podcast! it has to be someone with an american accent though. smile1.gif

That's a neat idea. I like the idea of neocodex being a more into a general social community.

What's wrong with the Mario themes? D:
They're sort of... calming.... Mmmm Studying for exams with NES Super Mario Bros. Level 1-2 tunes. OH SNAP.

If we could broadcast, it'd be kind of fun... or scary. >.> You'd be surprised at what I listen to on a regular basis.

Members who have a microphone could host it for a fixed timeslot. would be lovely to get to know more members on a more colloquial level.

As long as it isn't all nasaly because thats sounds really annoying.

I'll take any voice but a British accent. I like the novelty of a different one, though I guess for me American accent isn't a novelty for me as apporx 70% of what I watch is from America tongue.gif

Its actually a bit of a touchy subject, one of the guys i work with actually runs a small legal radio station with about 15 mile radius. He doesn't have to have any permission to play the music, and its the same with an online station look at last.fm completely legal as long as you cant download the music. We could have it as podcast that would be cool biggrin.gif

I believe it's legal only if people can not request songs. Like pandora.com

then again, you could have people make "suggestions'

or each person plays a certain type or decade of music...

oldies, 70s, 80s, 90s, EVERYTHING, industrial, dance, indie, etc...

I have done it before, we just need a shoutcast server, and dedicated people to run it. I would be willing to volunteer for the job, and I'm sure others would too.

Shoutcast Team tag anyone?
