A really good friend of mine presented me an idea which I know sounds very far'fetched but when you think about it is quite an interested insight. My friend has a really interesting story behind their insight but thats not what this topic is about.

My friend says that all religions of the world have their events that are fact and the others are to create their cultues.

The events were told so that thousands of years later people may be able to put the peices from the puzzle together and know an all imporant message.

The range of cultures is to create personality and an identity about the different cultures and their people so when the day comes we are a lot more accustomed to encountering a difference in our lifestyles or learn how to get along with each other.

My friend believes that there are even somethings in religion meant to cause conflict. The conflict is not supposed to be bad but rather good. Giving us a sense of right or wrong despite what our religion/belif tells us. Some of these things are more evident with the help of culture. My friend says the war on terror is an example of something thats meant to happen and is part of a story much bigger.

My friend also says we have no idea what so ever of who or what god is. They say there is a difference in our creator and the universes creator. Our creator was more than one being. The creator of the universe is something far more complex and is not always thought of as a being.

What are your thoughts, they wanted to hear what your insights to his beleifs were. For ideas out of my control they want to remain anonymous.

Sounds like a pointless complexification (is that a word?) of the already obtuse systems managed by modern religions.

If a religion causes conflict it's because it's messages aren't relevant in today's world; thats when you have to think for yourself. If you never heard about Christianity and I told you that Christians worship a carpenter who lived 2000 years ago you'd think it's pretty far fetched right? But there are a lot of elements in religion that are like that. So you have to read the a Bible as more of fable if you will of what you should and shouldn't do. That may not necessarily guarantee your place in heaven but it'll make life easier for everyone around you. And whatever you do don't look to it as a scientific guide. That's what I like about the Quran it's more accurate in science and origin. Like George Carlin said, "we could ban religion all together but we don't have time for rationality".
