I don't really see it that way
"We're a generation of men raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need. "
Just more about the modern male identity in my view.

The real reason Fight Club is a great film, is because it works on all levels.

Yea it's pretty damn enigmatic too, thats what I like about it as well, the twist and fighting is just the surface. There are so many subtle gems, so many theories about psychology, symbolism, metaphors, so much debate about this movie. I don't think anyone grasps this movie one hundred percent.

    Watch. Now:

I watched it. And now I wish I didn't. Well done movie I suppose, somewhat good story, but it's one of those movie where you walk away with nothing and wish you didn't just waste over 2 hours.

First of all, Sunscorch: Picard rules. Cookies to you for using the most pwnsome captain in the entire Star Trek universe in your post. Patrick Stewart = yummy viewing. (End rave.) Second of all, Alex: I'm a girl. I loved Fight Club. Admittedly, part of that might have been Brad Pitt (lickable!) putting the smackdown on people (definitely fun to watch when well done), but I do have reasons for liking the movie besides that. Having not seen it in a while, I am generalizing here, not recapping actual events of the movie. The 'twist' as Kitsune rightly pointed out was predictable. Most of Hollywood is nowadays. I can actually predict lines characters will say about two minutes before they say them. Writers, take note: there is no originality anymore. It's been done; either on the big screen, the silver screen, in writing, or just plopped up on the Internet by Joe Bob the maintenance guy... It. Has. Been. Done. I don't look for the unpredictable anymore, I look for the deeper meaning. (Cue sappy yet intellectual background music.) Fight Club delves into an area of the human psyche a lot of movies shy away from because they aren't pat and happy. Saw did the same thing. The new face of horror, a.k.a psychological thriller. We've had this concept only in books for so long, it actually gave some people pause when it came to the screen. 'Cause, seriously, who actually expected, even in this depraved day and age, to see someone challenge people to live under the most extreme circumstances, forcing them to choose between unbearable pain and death? Gruesome, yes. So not for the weak of stomach. But an interesting insight into the mind of modern-day man.

Holy Oatmeal, I think I just said something profound. Someone pinch me... blink.gif

Ahem, btw, my vote is cast for the Riddick movies: Pitch Black, Dark Fury, and Chronicles of Riddick. Note the avvie and siggy. tongue.gif

Yeah, it was the animated "bridge" between the two movies. It was just an excuse to animate Vin Diesel so they could make him do schway stuff without paying through the nose. The only link to the first and second movies are like... 3 minutes, 2 minutes 30 seconds in the beginning, and 30 seconds at the end. Seriously. Well, and to pad the box set. Two movies is just a sucky box set, y'know? But! Lickable. Soooo lickable.

    The Cookie Dragon says: Plop.
