Hey. So I'm trying to install 'The Return Of Dr. Sloth Decoder' program since decoding the puzzle by hand takes forever (for modifier 3).
Also, I realize I need some required files in order to download from this site? I wasn't sure which of the 'required files' I had to download. I found three, but don't know which are actually needed. wacko.gif
Also, I don't know if I have to "save" or "run" everytime I try to install, I don't know where to unzip them to, I don't know what to do after I unzip them.
Could someone please guide me step-by-step?? =[

http://www.neocodex....ownload-47.html

If you've already downloaded and installed the CodexChecks, you may need some of the VB required files:

http://msdn.microsof...l/html/cpad.asp
http://www.ascentive...ibraryfiles.exe

If that doesn't work try reading this and see if it helps.

If you get any particular error messages, it would help if you posted what they were.

The main error message I constanly get is "RunCodexCheck - 0 - Please check if you have Required Files"
I checked out the link to that help topic you gave me. When I looked on how to solve the error I kept getting, it really didn't help. I CodexCheckv3 installed (though it may not be properly installed) and everytime I try installing the other RunTime one, I keep getting the message "this file may not have installed properly".
I followed that first site you posted to try to get the Control Pad, but got the message "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application."

Download it and install it again. Get the files asked(the ocx, activex control pad and other stuff mumei asked) that should make it go biggrin.gif
If you keep having this problem, than I won't know what you need. Make sure to download the files Laser said on this thread, and everything will be fine. Also, mkae sure you read codex checks' faq

EDIT:
Make sure to download and install CC again
Download all the files, save them, and run the activex thing. Get the OCX and paste it on C/WINDOWS/System32 if you're running on Windows XP
restart your computer

EDIT2: Thanks for remember about restarting, now I remember that the activex control pad says about restarting xD

Hope I helped with something, the edit has the steps in order

I believe your problem of getting the error "RunCodexCheck - 0 - Please check if you have Required Files" requires you to have the control pad installed. Restart your computer and try again?

Well I tried the second link that Laser Wave posted (tried it just now) and whatever it was, it installed correctly. Then I went to see if the decoder would work, and something actually opened without that error message. =o
Some kind of Neocodex box.
So I put in my Neocodex username and pass, wait a few minutes, then something else pops up:
"Run-time error '40006':

Wrong protocol or connection state for the requested transaction or request"

o.O
Sounds like a lot
One of my problems is that I don't know which required file is which.

runtime error 40006 means that the program is having a problem trying to connect to the internet - have you allowed the program access to the internet

Places to look are your firewall and if you have one your router

Oh well mate...
Lets check:
http://msdn.microsof...l/html/cpad.asp
here's the Active X controlpad, you have to install it. It'll ask to restart the computer, not yet.

http://www.ascentive...ibraryfiles.exe
Here's the OCX you save it and extract/ copy & paste into this folder:

C/WINDOWS/System32

Than restart your computer and try again xD

Why does there always seem to be a problem? =[
Okay, so the little login box thing open again. You now at the bottom where it says the time, and then "V3.3.1.0 Loaded"? Well after I put in the login information and click the arrow, it says "Connecting to Neocodex 4", then "Connecting to Neocodex... 7", and after a few seconds, it'll say "Failed to Logon to Neocodex 0"
I'm guessing that as soon as I get past this, I'll finally be able to use the decoder normally.

If you're a validated member... What might be happening is just high board activity. Try again every few minutes or so. XD

And make sure that your login information is absolutely correct... Sometimes Caps can trip you up.

I've been trying since last night, and I'm pretty sure I'm putting in correct info.

Well I just unintstalled everything from my Laptop (vista) and moved over to the desktop (Windows XP, I believe).
It installed the files much easier and without any problems. I installed the first two items in the "Required Downloads" section, and I installed the things from the two URLs that Laser Wave posted in one of the first posts. Now that little NeoCodex pop-up box opens. But when I try to login, I still get the same problem ("Failed to Logon to NeoCodex 0")
What could the problem possible be now?

Attached File  error_message.PNG   26.85KB   7 downloadsHere's a minimized screenshot of the error I keep getting.

Maybe it's because your username has - in it?

That would really stink if that were the reason.
But it can't be because it works when I sign in on the site itself.

Well although I doubt the "-" is the reason, I'll try making a new account and signing in with that one, to see if it changes anything.

Oh...my...goodness... blink.gif
I made a new account, tried signing in the decoder with that one, and it actually worked. biggrin.gif
How in the world did you know that was the problem?! o.O
Well anyways, thank you all so much for your help!!
Now to try out the decoder, and hopefully and won't get me frozen. =o

You should have PMed an admin and got them to change your name instead of making a new account.

PM one of them now and ask them to merge your accounts.

(multiple accounts is against the rules here)

The way the board handles special characters like - and the way the program handles it are two completely different things and so this is very likely.

Also please PM me the name of your other account and I'll merge the two for you. I'll also change the name so let me know which name you want as well smile.gif.

If that's true then just forget about it tongue.gif.

The single account restriction is mostly a procedural security measure anyway tongue.gif.

Yeah. Hardly a security risk, so I suppose we can ignore. tongue.gif

Geez. You guys way over-complicate things tongue.gif

Alright, you can probably delete one of them then from ACP (if you can). I'll just remove the one with the dashes or something, no worries. tongue.gif

EDIT: Changed the login name of the one t-20-07 account to InstallTester, removed the other account.
