An intersting movie to say the least; Daniel Day Lewis is not your typical oil man. In fact, he often uses "fibs" or lies to get what he needs. For those of you who know the story of Kane and Abel, this is it, in the form of 1920's oil tycoon. It was an ok film! Would I rent it? If someone gave me their money to do so. Would I buy it? No way. I would give it a HIGH 3 out of 5. Want a real review heh heh then ask Roger Ebert .

well upton sinclair wrote the novel so I don't know. Personally I don't think is was all that worthy of 8 Oscars and another 33 wins & 31 nominations. But I don't know if it has anything to do witht the writers guild or not.

It got 8 oscars? I was either going to see this last night or watch Jumper...I went with Jumper .

I heard it was supposed to be good...I didn't realise it was so good it got 8 oscars

Just because it won 8 oscars doesn't make it a good movie. ;; I've hated Oscar winners in the past... ;;

It ends up being preference or taste... I don't tend to like the world's most depressing movies.
Oh man, I hated Traffic. D: Didn't that win all kinds of awards? Lol Basically don't feel bad about going to see Jumper if you liked it. XD

I had no interest in seeing it--seeing as the title told me right away it wasn't for me. Knowing advance that there's going to be blood in the movie makes it easy to avoid, lol

... but what's all this about "I'LL DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE"? Everyone's been saying it lately.

the milkshake is when the guy is refering to how instead of buyin the land he reaches over a sucks the oil from it. he reaches over with his straw and Drinks the milkshake!!! then really the only bood in the movie happens after he says that. at the very end!
