List a few general ways the Admins could give out points, other than posting.

My ideas:
Programmers get points (say 50/100 based on what section their program is in [ie Retired/Member]) for programs.
Programmers get 1 point everytime their program is used (by users other than them).
Sig of the Week gets 25 points or so.

List your ideas!

Compiled:
Programmers gain points for submitting GOOD programs.
Programmers receive points evrytime their program is used.
Sig of the week is given points.
    Birthday present.
    Winning a contest.
    Writing WELL WRITTEN guides/tutorials.
    Misc. contributions.
Being 1/2/3 place in an arcade game.
Top downloaded program recieves points. (Cataliste: I think this should be a modifier really, if it's top downloaded maybe 2 points when it's used by any user.)
    Codies winners receive prizes.
Question of the day. (First correct answer gets the prize.)

Mentioned arcade before http://www.neocodex....ade-t77707.html

I think a programmer should get some points when they first release a program and then a point each time it is used. Also if they make it to the top downloaded program then give them a bonus for that too.

Have the codies winners get a little prize of points?

How about a quiz page that periodically throughout the day could have a question put on it by an admin or mod. The first person to submit a correct answer gets a set amount of points.

It could work the same way as the Faerie reQuest system.

LOL, actually I don't know who would oppose that tongue.gif Love the idea of giving the programmers more points opportunities for they generally draw the new members. Hell it might even be used as a tool for memebers to get motivated enough to create thier own for the community.

That would be a hell of a lot of points dumped into circulation at once.

Points don't circulate. It's not an economy.
Points that are gained, bear no relation to the points being spent. Those just disappear.

Yeah, so therefore we need to be pretty conservative on how points are gained... or make items expensive. tongue.gif

Seems to me that more ways to gain points, and more expensive items, would work out better than the opposite.

I say we don't distribute points from previous posts, programs, and whatnot. We should be concerned about promoting future activity on codex and not be preoccupied about who did what years ago.

Yes. This is the point of this topic. I'll keep the main thread update with all the dieas submitted so we can keep duplicates away.

I think I'll sned Hydrogen the entire compiled list on Saturday night/Sunday morning. So everyone get all your best ideas together. smile.gif

Thanks cataliste smile.gif. I'll keep an eye out on my PM box for that smile.gif.

I don't think you ever sent me the compiled list, but I sent you a PM about assigning you to this task along with Black Flame. I had forgotten that you had made this list and had assigned the task to Black Flame. Now you two can work on it together smile.gif.
