Whats a decent replacement exercise for that. Don't have an overhead bar. I have a bench (inclined, declined and flat positions) with a barbell (with ample weights) as well as some light weights (5 and 10 pounds)

Dumbbell shoulder presses? You'd probably be better off just buying a bar though, they're pretty cheap.

How hard are they to install?

Sidenote: Wow, pretty sure arm dumbell rows triggered a seratonin (or is it dopamine?) rush because I'm feeling pretty good right about now. Never had this happen before

You just put them in a doorway and screw them in so they press against either side of the frame. You don't have to keep them up permanently so you can just remove it when you're finished.

I'm guessing you replicate that with dumbbell shoulder presses. But then you'd be working the opposing muscle group from the one shown in the pic. My guess it find a sturdy pipe or beam somewhere around the house tongue.gif

Wide grip pull ups are for primarily working your back (Lats). One arm shoulder press speaks for itself.

Soooo are you actually looking to work your back?...or your shoulders? unsure.gif

Have a look at a bent over barbell row then. It is quite advanced so be careful not to hurt your back if you give it a go. With enough weight on the bar this exercise is damn good.

You said you have a Bench so I'm guessing you have a barbell tongue.gif

Cant you also do it with dumbells and a bench? Where you put one knee up on the bench, bend over to have your torso horizontal and then "row" with the side that isnt on the bench?
I dont know what this exercise is called.

it's okay, they're not even that good for your. people don't realize that some exercises, although seem okay, aren't that good for your shoulders, like your rotator cuffs. blow one of them, and you can pretty much count yourself out of doing any hard sports for the rest of your life.

I have no chance of even staying upright in a handstand normally, let alone trying to do a push-up tongue.gif
