Well, I've had the idea of hosting a webserver for a while, and I have 111gb of freespace on my D:\ drive, so I'm thinking of hosting one.

I have a few questions;

What software should I use? - I have apache 2.2.8, PHP, and MySQL
What port should I host it on? - I'm thinking 28000, because it's one of my only open ones
What should I use to manage it all?

I'm kind of new to this all, so, how should I set up my directories?

Like the htdocs to:
D:\public_html\
Php:
D:\PHP\
Apache:
D:\Apache2.2\
MySQL:
D:\MySQL\

You could just get WAMP (LAMP if you're on linux) if you want it all done quickly and easily. tongue.gif

@Laser, thanks, I'll try that.

@Josh, I'll go look through that and get CGI and Perl too, forgot those ohmy.gif.

What the hell, I made a directory and now my homepage won't show up

The webserver works, now how would I make it so people could actually to to the site?
It's port 80 so, could people just go to my IP and it would work?
