you cant actually see the pets yet, the fucking neopets boards are full of little kids that have stayed awake for 14hrs to see the pound..

The thing is, that's the same link as the one you click by clicking on the uni... so why does the direct link work, while the main link not work?

It's not the same link. The old ones was just http://neopets.com/adopt.phtml, the new one is http://neopets.com/pound/adopt.phtml.

SORRY! *hides* We want to apologize for not being able to launch the pound today. We really did think we would be able to, but we will be launching it tomorrow after we make sure it won't blow up the site. (You may have noticed some site trouble earlier, which was due to the pound.) :-( Trust us, we want the pound back as much as you do.

If it's not up tomorrow, I declare this the new Neoschools. >_>

Won't happen, I can assure you. The only things that are released at midnight ever are Advent Calender prizes, Daily Dare stuff and the normal daily script changes for all of the dailies and other stuff.

So it appears they've "frozen" the majority of the pets in the pound? I suppose it's a good idea, to avoid a huge scramble when the pound finally reopens. Sigh, my unconverted Royal Cybunny... oh, how I'll miss him if they don't unfreeze the pets.

As soon as they opened it yesterday it made neopets go down. Maybe they'll release them slowly into the pound rather than just putting them all in from the start.
