Maybe something in your system is fried.
Does your laptop heat up very quickly and to a high temperature?

You don't have a Dell XPS M1330 by any chance, do you? I do, and the adapter became very iffy and we had to get a new one. But perhaps like the poster before me said, your laptop is starting to malfunction.
Oh, you could try popping a battery in and see if it comes on then.

Need to RMA it, obviously something hardware-wise is dead.

not a Dell...it's a fujitsu
sent it to the technician and they told me the checking is in progress and until now nothing is wrong with the harddisk and RAM...which is really bad because if my motherboard is fried then the laptop is useless..
the technician cant find what's the problem and the laptop was sent back to fujitsu

Sounds like the correct thing to do

I've had the same problem with a few of my laptops everytime it was the motherboard.

Strange, apparently theres little quality control or something. Seems like its pretty common to have a dead board

99% is a dead board..only happens just after the warranty period is over... changing a board is too expensive..might just get a new laptop.
