For some reason both my harddrives are acting weird. (like registery files needing to be recovered from back-ups.) So I'm thinking it's unlikely that it's both my hard drives so it there any way to check if my motherboard is causing the problem? Also on one hard drive windows starts loading up, says that the program autochk (or something like that) is missing and then it bsods on me, is there any way to fix that without losing my files? And anyone know of some uber-format program I can use to completely erase my hard drive one final time before I scrap it?

Thanks

Is it "autochsk" ? if so thats a stone cold Hd problem not motherboard, cant think of a simple way of the problem been connected to the M-Board, as far as
completly erasing your hard drive why not simply reformat?

Try booting from your os disk?
What are your first two boot options on your bios?

I have reformatted a couple times to no avail. I do not think a standard format from my windows cd will fix it.
My boot options are floppy followed by cd followed by hd

"some reason both my harddrives are acting weird" when i read this the fist thing that came to mind was the power, as daft as it seems problems with your powerpack can kill a HD disk`s making it skip hence any delayed booting problems or problems with `lost`/`forgotten` files.

Its a long shot but, check the time on your pc/laptop, reset it, then check the time again and post what you find please

Good luck
