Two days ago, I downloaded AVG Anti-Virus and grabbed a validation code from a somewhat reliable Serial source, which expires December of this year.

It worked, no flaws. Updated, cleansed computer... all worked fine.
Today, I left the laptop running as I went off to school... and I've come back to AVG having a little exclamation point and greyed out icon. Double-clicking does not bring up the GUI, and I do not understand why it'd not work.

"Scan with AVG" is still clickble in the right-click menue, while it's greyed out when versions normally get shut down. It, however, does nothing.


Any ideas?

The exclamation mark means that one or more of the components are disabled or have some problem with them. My AVG has the exclamation mark because I choose to disable the linkscanner, it doesn't make any difference on the other components within AVG.

Maybe you would have been better off getting the free (legal) version of AVG 8.0 rather than getting a serial for it which is most likely illegal.

I'd advise you head over to the AVG support site and see if you can figure things out with them. All though I doubt they will be as fair as we are about discussing your pirated software.
