Do I look like a penguin to you?
On a completely unrelated subject, I've been re-thinking about 'spam sections' and completely changed my stance...

Ditto'd!
Ah well, time to work my way back up. Where's Hydro when you need to perform a favor?

I didn't actually get demoted.
I do just enough to keep the wolves from the door.

Oh, I hardly did anything. Actually, I moved a thread. So I did do something

Didn't you invisiblize a post? I told someone they were a fucking idiot, and reported myself, just so you could deal with it.
Who else got demoted...

@ Kitsune, I really don't mind too much. I actually was a pretty crummy mod, lmfao. I'd much rather be retired than anything, the least amount of pressure is on that position Well, that or advisor...

He has such high standards... But it is obviously quantity over quality with the way some deal with stuff.
There is no pressure on private, advanced, or regular member as long as you care a bit less... And no NextgenWarrior, that does not mean being careless.

Most Online In One Day Is 234 On June 15th, 2008
There isn't that much to deal with anyway...234 people online today but hardly any posts.
I noticed one of our competitors has been down for 5 days and came back a few hours ago and already has over 1700 posts...we're doing something wrong.

I'm just saying, certain people deal with a lot of reports in a shitty manner, so it is quantity over quality.
Clearly. Lets make a buttload of changes, right now.

Well, it is their first day back, you'd expect that. On a normal day they still get more than us, but not by quite a large margin.

They actually get quite a lot more than us in a day...and they're not the only competing site which does now. Even 'smaller' sites get many more posts than we do.
We have the numbers of people, they just seem to be discouraged from posting. We need to work out what it is...

I blame Joe. If I saw him tearing everyone a new one I don't think I'd post.

One person couldn't be to blame imo. I blame the forum structure, people are discouraged from 'chatting'.

Nah, I am an ass. I do feel shitty about doing this, but I did set up rules.
What do ya mean? I'm intrigued

Meh, I suppose that pretty much holds true. Also, with how this forum is, it is difficult to just jump right in and fit it. I don't know, but it is hard for a newbie to actually get started here.

If you watch how other forums interact, they have what we would call 'spam sections' (no post count) but most of the posts aren't actually spam...it's just people chatting about random things kind of like what Ali and Eeyore do occasionally rather than 'interesting' topics or news articles etc. I've actually completely changed my opinion on them.
We have General Chat, but we have no general chatting...

Exactly, we seem to have the wrong definition of spam entrenched somehow...

To just further detract from the board?

Well, if we're worried about activity, it's easy to be active in a shout box. But if we want our activity focused into usefulness or the expansion of the board, I suppose it would be a good idea not to have one.
